While negotiating soft right turn, I heard a very loud popping, banging noise, that sounded as if the front suspension had let go. Got home 2 minutes later. Unable to determine cause. Couple of days later while backing out of driveway, I heard a loud metal-on-metal grinding noise that stopped when I shifted into drive. From then on, I noticed a roaring/humming that I thought might be a transmission problem. Heard the loud popping/banging/screeching a couple of more times over the next few days. Minimized driving. I took the truck to local Dodge dealer where they diagnosed hub failure. Drove a couple of miles to trusted independent garage. Had left front hub assembly replaced. Garage owner surprised I made it to his shop without the wheel locking and coming off. Looking at internet, the hub problem seems very common on Dodge pickups (recall on 2006 models). Many complaints reported on various websites affecting models from 2002-2009, with most occurring around 53000 miles. Several crashes reported due to wheel separations from hub/bearing assembly failure and lockup.

Driving on 390N in rochester N.Y. at approx. 5pm heavy traffic.loud bang and rear tires locked up, , both granddaughters began to scream" whats happening". I had no clue. Looked to right to try to get out of traffic and saw what I thought was my driveshaft spit out from under R R tire.. we were lifted up in air at back of truck and I lost all propulsion, mind you my 5 and 6 year old are screaming as the other half of the drive shaft pounds on the pavement and bottom of truck.I still have no idea what is happening. Somehow and that's what I told the sheriff I got the truck which was now freewheeling off to the side of the road approx. 75-100 ft from my driveshaft that hit the bridge guardrail and stopped from hitting anyone in traffic. I collected myself, calmed the girls whos big concern was now, , someone is going to smash us and called 911 and my daughter. Then I looked. My driveshaft was torn in two, oil and parts were everywhere we should be dead but we are not honestly I have no clue how I got that truck over and stopped. Me and the girls pray every night for god to protect our family and angels road in that truck that day.the tow truck driver had to skid the truck up onto the flatbed it was seized so badly, , and my daughter came and safely got the girls off the busy highway and home. The help truck said he had never seen anything like it..the Dodge dealership has been helpful but Chrysler has been unhelpful to its dealer and myself with an indifference that discussed me. I hope you do something before someone dies!!!!

After backing out of my garage, at an approx. Speed of 1 mph, I turned the wheels to the left to run an errand, and the drivers side tie rod end broke. The drag link dropped and the wheel cocked to the full left. At this point I don't know if it caused any other damage. I spoke with the nearest dealer and was told that there are no recalls on this vehicle at this time. Unfortunately I need this vehicle and had to order a new tie rod end at a cost of $116. Bearing any other damage, I will also have to get an alignment, at an unknown cost at this time. Thank god that I had not been traveling at a higher rate of speed when this part decided to fail, because I am sure the outcome would not have been good.
