Ram 1500 Outdoorsman 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,000 miles

Cranks but wouldn't start. I will turn off the key and continue trying until it starts, 3 -10 attempts. Also, truck stalls randomly. Tire pressure monitor showing 0 at times, didn't think this was related. I took it into the dealer, they told me it was the battery. I replaced the battery, problems continued. Took it in a second time, they said they reset the TIPM. Problem continued. Now truck has zero power, will not start, key stuck in ignition. Battery drained three times. Took it in after this ongoing issue (Over a year) They are now in the process of replacing the TIPM. Hope this fixes it. Thank god I'm under the max care warranty! To be continued.

Update from Aug 17, 2018: PICKED UP MY TRUCK FROM DEALER. TIPM REPLACED. BATTERY DRAIN CAUSED BY TIPM. Issues resolved ; tire pressure monitor working again, starts first time. Doors unlock first time using key fob. No more stalling after start up. Will give update after driving it more.

Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 172,000 miles

We have been dealing with ongoing sporadic electrical issues in the truck for two years. It began with the ABS System kicking on and off, then tire pressure monitors, traction control etc. all you have to do is name it and it went wrong. All random and never able to pin point the issue. Took it to the dealership after almost being in multiple accidents due to the truck shutting off when coming to stops, taking off or most haphazardly making turns through intersections, due to them being unable to recreate the issues they could only throw stuff on the wall and hope it stuck. We received an estimated fix of over 3000.00, but they were unwilling to guarantee it would correct the issue(never did they mention replacing the TIPM at this point).

I'm unsure of other's financial situations, but I'm not accepting of spending thousands to "maybe" correct a problem. After the truck finally took its last stall at a red light on April 25th 2018, my husband risked his life narrowly missing being plowed by impatient drivers, to push this truck out of a busy intersection in Destin, Florida. Had it towed to one mechanic shop, they had it for 1 week, towed it to the Ford dealership after Dodge wouldn't give the time of day to the mechanic, they then refused to look into. So after another week at the Ford dealership we paid to have it towed yet again to the Dodge dealership.

After two weeks of Dodge having it they have confirmed it was the TIPM. 1300.00 later we anticipate to have the vehicle back tomorrow, May 22nd, 2018. After learning of the confirmed issue and researching online, I'm seeing many horrible complaints about these faulty TIPM's. Beyond frustrated to have taken this truck to the dealership when this began happening over two years ago to not receive a solution, to being without a vehicle for a month, to spending 1300.00 on a part I'm learning is faulty, yet wasn't recalled. This is beyond unacceptable.

Ram 1500 Laramie Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,000 miles

The truck starts automatically. Constantly. As soon as I turn the key off and take it out of the ignition, it starts going crazy, like it's possessed. The truck starts and stops, starts and stops, starts and stops. The horn honks. The alarm system shuts on and off. The doors lock and unlock. Sometimes it won't start when I want it to. Sometimes the whole system shuts down and I can't get the key out of the ignition or turn it or anything --- it's all locked down. I have to disconnect the battery cables, wait a minute, everything resets, and then it's good until I turn the truck off again.

This is horribly inconvenient. I can't trust it. Three times in three weeks it's refused to start when I'm out of town. And every time I get out of the truck every day for the past three weeks, it's haywire until I start it again.

Everything I see online tells me this is the TIPM and there are thousands and thousands of Dodge truck owners having the exact same problems. There are no recalls and no recourse.

For the last year I have had weird electrical issues. Horn will randomly go off by itself, power windows will not work, truck refuses to start and just cranks, truck has stalled on me while driving. After doing some research, it appears to be the TIPM causing this. Chrysler has recalled other vehicles for these exact same issues, but not the Rams yet.

There is a ghost in this truck. The windows roll down and the lights come on with the key in the house and the truck locked and off. It runs horribly like it is not getting any gas. This issue was actually brought to me by the deal but the class action lawsuit was not mentioned (imagine that). I will find out how to get included on the lawsuit.

Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 134,862 miles

I am driving my vehicle home from work when the wipers started moving on its own, ALL my lights starting flashing constantly, had a message that came up NO BUS where my mileage is normally located, and the following stopped working/responding:

ALL windows (Front Passenger window is still halfway down) Radio Horn Cruise Control Instrument Cluster Panel (Showed 0 [zero] on everything, thankfully I already invested in GPS) Mirrors Windshield wiper Fluid button Hazard Button Tow/Haul Button

The only thing I could do was pull over and remove the Windshield relay switch so my wipers stopped. I took it to a trusted mechanic and he told me I had to take it to the dealership to have fixed. I took it to the dealership and they told me the part was $1,300 by itself plus two-three hours labor, plus tax and other "miscellaneous fees" totaling over $1,600.

I am working two jobs to try and make ends meet, on top of paying for my mothers' funeral home, nursing home, and medical expenses, my dad's medical expenses and constant bi-weekly trips for his medical needs.

Their solution was to give a $1,000 in-house credit card and I still have to come up with over $600. This is my only mode of transportation and now I am having to bum rides because my spare ride (1997 Dodge Ram 1500) decided to shoot water/antifreeze out of the tailpipe this morning. I've always been a MOPAR person and still am one. I wish I could catch a break. Thank you for hearing me out.

I brought my 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 to a mechanic with the problem that my windshield wipers weren't turning on. They told me it was the Totally Integrated Power Module and the repairs would be above $1200. They then told me to complain to headquarters because Jeep and Chrysler have had recalls on this part, but not Dodge. I'm not under any warranty - so I'm pretty much screwed, huh????

Ram 1500 ST 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,850 miles

I bought my 2011 Ram 1500 with a 5.7L Hemi Brand new in 2011. About a year after I bought it, I would randomly be unable to start the truck. I would turn the ignition key, and the truck would crank, but wouldn't start. Even when I let go of the key, it would continue to crank, but wouldn't start. Turning off the key and restarting always fixed the problem. This has been a random occurrence for several years. In the last week or so, it happens almost every day. Today, I had to turn the key off and on about a dozen times before it would start.

I'm now learning that the TIPM could cause many more problems. It sounds like thousands of others are having the same type of problem. Chrysler really needs to recall this for my vechicle and get this fixed.

Truck did not want to start and at times ran ruff until it would not start at all. I googled issue and found it is a problem with dodge trucks. I’m surprised there is no recall. I was happy with Dodge until this. Now I have to debate to pay mortgage or fix truck which is a big problem. I think dodge should address a known issue. My next vehicle won’t be a Dodge.

Replaced ETC because we were told that was the issue, then replaced the fuel pump because that was the code. Called the dealer truck was purchased from and their response was "OH WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO" Now at a new dealer and they tell me its the TIPM, two options replace with new at a charge of $1200.00 or do the by-pass at a price of $700.00. Well I'm not made of money so i had to go for the by-pass fix. I just wish Chrysler would have just dealt with the issue properly and not try to deny its their fault. I mean you knew you were installing defective parts.

I was having issues starting my truck from cold, the vehicle would crank but not readily fire up. took it into the dealership for a diagnostic and come to hear the TIPM was only relaying power intermittently to the fuel pump. When I looked up the specific issue I read many reports of this exact problem and doesn't make me feel any better about this very costly repair.

Ram 1500 ST 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission

2011 Ram 1500 purchased new. Nothing but electrical issues. Replaced WIN at 87000 miles now TIPM has shorted the fuel pump relay circuit and in turn the tire pressure monitor is flashing and the truck intermittently starts, shuts off while driving, accelerator light comes on and truck goes in to limp in mode until you stop, turn it off and if it restarts it will run until the fuel pump shuts off. No fun driving 70 and losing all power. Now have to come up with 1750.00 so the stealership can replace yet another part that should have been recalled. Next vehicle will not be a Diamler product and have my 2003 and 2004 for sale now. Sorry in advance to the buyers for the headaches.
