Both my son and I own Fiat 500C models from 2012 and we have noticed a problem relating to the hatch or trunk handle ceasing to work-mine had a lot of use and stopped releasing the hatch after some wear and tear, but his is pristine but does the EXACT SAME thing--coincidence? highly unlikely--it seems the electronics are to blame and that's too close to call unrelated. We think Fiat (or Chrysler) should pony up a complimentary repair for us both.

The retaining pin for the door handles on the Fiat's are know for breaking "as i have found after googling" and the worst part is the pin can be replaced for $12 in the Europe, but is not sold here in America! you have to buy the whole door handle assembly instead of just the pin!! needless to say I didn't fix it in time causing the whole handle to break of, causing you to have to open the door from the other side or leave the window down, tank you Fiat

FYI... FIAT = Fix It Again Tony

As of this morning this car has cost us three door handles to date - 2 drivers side and one passenger side. I spoke to fiat canada and they could not care less. Basic response is that it is not under warranty. After reading several forums it seems I am not the only one who has had this issue. The handles seem to have a fault in the pin assembly and has not been fixed since they are still breaking on us. Shame on Fiat 500 - this car has its issues most definitely - recommend not buy this car due to this issue alone. In my many years of driving I a never had a door handle literally collapse in my hands.
