This car has the worst electrical issues, the trunk doesn't open and no alternative to access, follow-me light stays on and drains the battery, random error lights, including a major one that almost shutdown the car while driving on the freeway to work. Scary, scary !! Now the car won't pass smog!! It apparently needs a "re-flash" of the computer system before it will, this is what I've read on the internet. Horrible, horrible!!

I was excited that this car would be economical, it wasn't worth the headache and problems it has come with. Not to mention, the dealership swapped the new vehicle I purchased, 0 miles, with one that had been used (120+ miles). They gave me a carwash for my troubles! Major oil problems a year or so after purchase... and they charged me for it!! Went back for a recall last year and they had no record of me or my car in their system!!! All of the records were wiped out for some reason!!!

Berkeley Fiat!!! The worst!! https://www.carcomplaints.com/addreport.shtml#

Wiring harness to the rear hatch is of a poorly made wiring insulation that hardens and becomes bridle in colder temperatures when ever the hatch is open or closed. Danger exists for "short outs" and damage to the PCM and possible fires. Watch video on you tube. This seems to be a common occurrence with most of the new 500th. Fiat should have addressed this issue long ago. A licensed Auto-Electrician (retired).

Shortly after I purchased my vehicle, I noticed some problems with the electrical system. When I run the windshield wipers, headlights, and radio with the windows rolled down my car will hesitate. However, it was a minor annoyance at the time.

Eventually, I had a Fiat dealership look into the issue. They claimed the problem was caused by a weak battery. I was doubtful that this was the cause. I've had this problem in my car since a few days after purchasing the vehicle in June of 2012. I procrastinated and didn't take my car in to the dealership until mid August of 2012. I doubt I had a "weak battery" for 2 years. However, I trusted the dealership at their word and went with it. They changed my battery. ONE MONTH later the battery in my car died. My car is at the dealership right now. I hope they fix it. However, I have decided Fiats are no longer the car for me. I plan on trading in my vehicle this weekend.
