I was traveling down highway 528 on 7/1/04 at around 9 a.M., my speed was approximately 75 mph, the front drivers side thread separated from the tire causing the truck to lift up on one side about two feet. I was in heavy traffic and it almost caused an accident.the impact dented the side of my fender and damaged the trim panel on my truck. The tire was still full of air and I managed to limp on the shoulder of the road to a Ford dealership where they put my spar tire on for free. It is noted in the repair invoice the mileage 57663 and the damage that was done. The tires still have good thread and seemed to be in very good shape. The thing that scared me the most was that there was no warning. The following week I took the truck to sears and had a complete set of new tires cooper brand installed. The tires that were on the truck a 2000, F-350 were steeltex A/T, LT265/75R16 123/1200 M/S load range E. I have some other #'s that could help you in seeing if this is an on going problem, 28216 ex, BM14474-3, E4 00 8061. I am the orignal owner and take very good of this truck, I also have some pictures that I would like to show you.

Consumer states that his camper van conversion has not had a smooth ride due to tires. The tire make an oscillating noise which makes the consumer think the tread is about to separate. The vehicle was taken to a for dealer but they were unable to be balanced. In the opinion of the technician the tires were too far out of tolerance. One of the tires could not be balanced therefore Goodyear replaced it. The consumer read several article about an agreement between NHTSA and Goodyear to replace 200000 tires on 15 passenger vans equipped with light truck load range E tires for model years 1996 to 2000. The consumer believes the camper conversion should be included in the replacement.

Driving South on I-25 from albequerque to el paso. Tire blew out & I made a controlled stop. Looking under the rear inside dual wheel I saw the tire was shredded. I exited almost at once to a small town named belen, N.M. this occurred almost noon on a Saturday. I considered myself lucky to find a tire store open in such a small town. I'm almost 75 with a heart condition. No way I was going to attempt to change that tire on a hot interstate alone. Craig tire co. Explained the recall policy. They replaced the blown tire (in 2 pieces) and placed it in my rv motor home. I paid them $165.08 and have the receipt. I was lucky to have found a tire dealer on Saturday in the middle of the New Mexico desert. I have called Ford, Firestone, the rv dealer, the rv manufacturer, the local tv station, even the newspaper. I understand there have been many complaints. Thank god no one was injured or killed. Thence, news of no importance! wrong! I'm retired. Unexpectingly I purchased this vehicle to travel at my leisure. The price of almost $69,000 is not primarily important. Someone selling me something that could have ended my wife's and my lives is my major concern. How many other unexpecting buyers may not be as fortunate? I used to drive a semi; I owned 12 trucks. Good thing I had experience with blowouts. Perhaps the next person won't know how to handle the blowout. Luckily, this was not a front tire, but an inside dual rear tire. I don't want the Firestone I have. No one is interested in my problem nor reimbursement. Additiionally, on closer examination I found another tire, same size, on the right rear outside dual has a 2" crack in the sidewall, which I deem unsafe to drive on. I also own a 1998 Ford Ranger equipped with Firestone wilderness ht tires, P225/70R15 M/S 1005. This vehicle has only 5,281 miles, purchased new. I'm told wildreness ht's are not included in the recall. I would appreciate your clarification. (dot number: Vd1L 1xd tiresize: 225/75R16E)

As I was driving the 2000 Ford E350 uhaul the rear right tire disintergrated and blew out while driving at 55 mph on a very hot day in northern California. I temporarily lost control of the truck but managed to pull off the road where I waited a long time for the highway patrol to rescue me. You folks need to seriously investigate uhaul, Firestone, and Ford for putting my life at risk and selling dangerous crappy tires. Thank you.( dot number: Tire size: Huge )
