I found that the 2013 Ford Edge has a recall as of Feb 2014, I recently bought this vehicle and when I learned of the recall I contacted Ford who told me that My VIN number was not one of the ones that was listed. However, ever since I have had my car the check engine light has been on and when I have taken it twice to be checked. Once when we bought it and again yesterday they told me It was due to the fuel line/ damper having some type of leak... causing the car to misfire and not having the correct amount of pressure... Improper manufacturing process. So I think this needs to be looked into further as I am sure I am not the only owner who has had this issue. I have had this reset twice and it has continued to come back on so it must be a problem and apparently one that needs to fixed by FORD since it is a SAFETY issue. I would like to hear something so that I can go get my car fixed.

While waiting for my scheduled appointment for Door Ajar light on the Drivers Door, which was scheduled for Friday, 16 June. My wife who was driving the car, was leaving work and the Engine Light came on. So I had her drive the car straight to Penske Ford of Chula Vista to fix / diagnose the problem.

Since I had an appointment there already, they (Penske Ford) said that I was addressing two (2) different issues, so which one did I want to handle first? Naturally, since Engine Light was on, I went with that.

I think it's total Bullshit that I'm paying $1400.00 total for a car (2013 Ford Edge that has 66,000 miles) the car just barely went past it's warranty program. I have owned several Fords in the past, and this is the most dissatisfied I've been with Ford and the Service that they have provided me!

Edge LS 3.5L V6

About the same time the instrument cluster died my check engine light goes on and the vehicle will only accept 2 or 3 gallons of fuel without spilling out onto my shoes. Now not only do I not know how much fuel is in my tank from the previous problem but I cant put gas in the car. UGH!!! Ford what is going on??? So back to the dealer who supposedly diagnoses that the entire filler neck has to be replaced. Another $600.00 smackers. Here's the worst part. Because of the last issue I figure I'll take it to my neighborhood family owned mechanic shop and and support the local economy. They installed a factory filler neck assembly for just under $200.00 HELLO FORD! Did you hear that?

It gets worse. Two days later check engine light returns. Turns out Ford misdiagnosed the problem. The problem according to my NEW mechanic friends is a small evap leak. Now that I replaced the filler neck for Fords mistake I have to pay for the true cost of my check engine light. Moral of the story is forget about the ridiculous and outrageous mark ups dealers gouge you with and support your local economy, heck you'll even make new friends.

I know some of you reading this may think the neighboring auto shop should have done their own diagnosing but I was so sure the dealer had diagnosed correctly I told the shop the problem had already been diagnosed by the dealer and would like to forgo their diagnostic cost. NOT!!!
