PTU replacement! Why isn't this problem on a recall? Ford knows about this issue and yet does nothing to cover it. I know sometime there might be an issue with a vehicle but Ford does not mention covering the issue unless it happens. In other words, they do not issue a recall on a general basis but on individual cases.
This is an expensive repair and a dangerous problem if not caught immediately. Having to replace a PTU is very expensive.

PTU (power transmission unit) failure. Happens when I set the gear in reverse. I hear clunking and knocking noises and power weakens. Also there is oil leakage due to PTU failure.

Just can not believe there is not a recall on this, I think it may be happening again and we only have driven the car 17,000 more miles . Do not buy any thing all wheel drive from Ford!
