The description below is what has occurred with my vehicle. It has a cracked flexplate resulting in loud noise when starting engine and when idle or at low speed. Vibration in steering wheel. Could result in loss of power if not fixed. NHTSA id number: 10144200 manufacturer communication number: Ssm 47398 summary some 2015-2018 Edge vehicles equipped with a 2.0L ecoboost and 6F35 transmission may exhibit a rattle noise from the transmission bellhousing area while running. This may be the result of a cracked engine flexplate.

On 5 different occasions, this vehicle suddenly loses power & acts like it's running out of gas. It "studders" for 15-20 seconds & then begins to run fine. It seems to happen when a left or right turn has just been completed. It's a frightening feeling that the vehicle will not accelerate when the gas pedal is pressed & you have fast moving traffic behind you on a busy city street. The dealership cannot find anything wrong with the vehicle. It is not being driven now because we are in fear of having an accident.

While driving, code says "hill start assist not available" and sputtering/power loss on road. Turned car off and started again, barely made it 1/2 mile home. Waited 2 days but code showed immediately when starting car. Engine revs and sputters, barely enough power to pull out of garage. Manual transmission so I cannot turn off hill start assist.

My sunroof randomly cracked while I was going down the highway. Nothing hit it so I was curious if this was a common problem.. I looked around online and found that it is in fact a common issue with some people's sunroofs even exploding!!! I called Ford and was told the exact same thing that I found everyone else saying online.. that Ford won't do anything to fix the problem and that some people have had this issue happen more than once... I am now terrified to drive my new (to me) vehicle that I just bought 2 months ago.. my glass insurance is giving me issues covering this because it's not a windshield and I don't have $2200 laying around to fix it at the moment.. how long until it starts leaking and causing other issues.."?"

A year ago my check engine light came on and the car felt like it was misfiring when I pushed the gas so I took it in to the dealership and they said that there was coolant leaking into the engine. They fixed the head gasket and replaced the cylinders and it ran okay for a while. Fast forward to last week and I was driving down a major highway with my five year old and my dog in the car on our way to vacation and an error light came on saying it was a coolant emergency; at the same time the check engine came on immediately. Suddenly the car basically went dead while in motion going 75 miles per hour. I had to steer it off of the highway and turn it off; leaving us stranded on the side of the highway for 4 hours. I had to have it towed to the nearest dealership and they said that there is coolant leaking into the engine and that the entire engine needs to be replaced because apparently after I had my car worked on the first time there was a tsb 19-2346 saying if this problem occurs then the engine needs to be replaced. The car is 3 years old and has had major engine failure twice in one year- leaving my family and I in a very dangerous situation. This needs to be recalled. The mechanic at the dealership said this is a common problem on the ecoboost 2.0 engine. A common problem"!"! now I have to pay $7000 for a new engine, $600 for a tow across three states $100 in uber for picking us up and hotel fees leaving us stranded.

I purchased a 2017 Ford Edge, in 2017, which ran fine at first. A year in, the car would run rough, and twice bogged down and turned off. Started again, replaced battery with under 2yrs of use and kept working. Fast forward two years, a few weeks ago, while driving home from work, I began to see performance issues and suddenly white smoke coming out the exhaust. No leaking was evident, and I never got a warning on my dash about temp or coolant or anything of the like. Took it to Ford, where I bought it, and after explaining the NHTSA customer satisfaction program, two of the associates reacted completely oblivious to what even NHTSA stood for or the issue, which btw seems to be reported over 10 times on the NHTSA site. Nevertheless, they suggested a new battery, spark plugs/wires, and then offered to take a look at the vehicle for a few days charging $125 for the "diagnostic", to which I refused. They then gave it a once-over, and found coolant in the engine, [milky oil] which indicates water seeping into the engine and would most likely require a cylinder head at the very least. They offered to give me a rental, for which they stated "I wouldn't have to pay" outside of the $50 liability fee, which is refundable upon Ford's hq/credit team got back to them. If they saw that this was not a "recall" type item, I would have to pay for the rental as well as the cost of repairs, which ball-parked around $4500-$5000. Clearly, this is unacceptable, for a 3yr old car with under 66K miles to have this problem. Filing a complaint with NHTSA in the hopes of finding some semblance of justice.

I went to the dealership where I bought my 2017 silver Ford Edge, because on 5/8/2020 the engine icon came up on my dash. So I immediately stopped at the local jarett Ford dealership in lakeland, fl, thinking it just needed an oil change. After I got this done, the engine icon never went and I began to experience my vehicle shaking and it also began heating up. This happened in 3 different occasions, with a red warning message on my dash of the precaution I should take to avoid overheating. Each time I immediately stopped the vehicle, waited for it to cool down, and added coolant to the radiator coolant tank. I went to elder Ford of tampa, fl, where I bought my vehicle and the service manager, terry was completely oblivious as to who NHTSA is as well as no idea of the customer satisfaction program. As I went to drive away my vehicle, now it did not want to start. Frank tried to see if it was a battery issue and tried jump starting it but it had nothing to do with the battery. By god's miracle my vehicle suddenly turned on and by his mercies I was able to arrive at my house. Now, I cannot get to work and are stuck because they say that there is nothing they can do because my warranty is over. I need to know if you can help me resolve this matter that is not my fault. I am very concerned that they have no idea as to what NHTSA is nor your customer satisfaction program. I will appreciate someone helping me, or pointing me in the right direction.

2017 Ford Edge titanium 57000 miles power steering has stopped and Ford will not help. The car still runs and I am driving without power steering. Local Ford says $ $3000 to fix. Warning lights of: "hill start assist not available"... (never had it anyway). "steering assist fault - service required" "service advance trac" - dashboard icon "stability control off" - dashboard icon... these warnings are on everytime I drive the car.. this started and first happened in mid Feb. 2020. It happened when I was backing out of a parking space. After a few feet it sort of stalled. I restarted and noticed immediately the lights and lack of power steering. Any help is appreciated. $3000 is a lot of money and I am surprised at the cost, lack of help from Ford and the fact that it is still running. Other wise it is a great car ! I have gone to youtube and discovered some electrical problems from others but nothing specific. Any help is great. Thanks.

Exhaust fumes entering vehicle cabin immediately after engine start, reversing vehicle, or simply idling. There already exists a tsb, 18-2057 for exhaust odor in vehicle for this year Ford Edge. This vehicle is in perfect conditions and has no accident history. Ford Lincoln of franklin (tn) will require nearly $1000 to perform tsb 18-2057, which is at best a guessing game as to where the fumes enter vehicle! at this point, I'm sure Ford Motor Company knows where the flaw is, just like they deny exhaust fumes in the Ford Explorer.

The rear glass panel in the panoramic sunroof has spider cracks throughout. The car is normally parked in a covered area. I had the sunroof open two weeks ago and there were no cracks at that time. The cracks happened within the last two weeks. The car was stationary when the problem was identified. This was not caused by any impact. I believe it is an inherent manufacturer defect. I contacted the dealer who said the repair will cause at least $1300 and that it is not covered under warranty. The car is a 2017 Ford Edge with 40K miles and has a 100K mile Ford premium care warranty.

Hi I am the owner of a 2017 Ford Edge fwd last week on the 1may 2019 while driving on highway 400 in woodbridge Ontario exiting the ramp to langstaff rd I applied the brakes but the brakes failed to stop I applied the emergency brakes and drove about a mile to my home address while the vehicle was parked in the driveway I noticed some oil under neath the car engine the next day I towed the vehicle to the Ford dealer in woodbridge and after is was examined by them I was advised that both front brake flex house were broken leaking oil. I was told that the parts were back order and the dealer had the car and the repairs under the warranty while the vehicle was at dealer I was told that I needed back brakes also. I declined the service today the 10 May 2019 I had the rear brakes replaced by my own mechanic and while he was a xemining the brake lines he noticed the rear left side had an air build an air bible in the line, which he stated that the brakes will fail soon because the brake line is rubber I called the dealer and told them about the problem and I was advised that this is not a warranty defect I need to wait till the brake lines burst completely for them to replace it I told them this is a safety issued and was told to bring it in next Thursday the the 16 May 2019 for them to look at it I am puzzled by this system that the warranty or the dealer play with people life's with safety my invoice from the front brakes repair is [xxx] repaired at pine tree Ford Lincoln in woodbridge ont 4167984777 thank you in advance (xxxxx) parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Today, I noticed wavy cracks throughout my rear sunroof (as I walked out to my stationary parked car). They are all over the place. I have never had any trauma to the roof. I googled these cracks and there are many complaints from Ford owners about the same issues. Some owners have replaced their sunroofs 3 and 4 times over. It is obvious the glass is defective. There are multiple mentions of a class action lawsuit. The cracks are a safety concern considering they may crack further and fall into the back seat on passengers. I am taking it in to the Ford dealership where I purchased it tomorrow.

While driving vehicle both myself and my wife became very light headed and that was followed by an extreme headache and nausea. Had vehicle towed to local dealership they proceeded to do a tsb that needed to be done and updated the computer. We took vehicle back drove it and had same problem. Returned it to dealer and explained that there was no difference and to please take another look stating that this happened after about 30 min of driving. They could not replicate concern spoke with Ford customer care they opened a case on this and helped get the vehicle looked at original dealer vehicle was purchased at. Said dealer is 1hr 40min away from where we live so once again had it towed at our expense they checked all that was done prior and did there own testing and also could not replicate problem at this point because being afraid that one of us might pass out while driving this becomes a big liability there is a problem with this vehicle and if the testers are not sensitive enough they need to look into better ways to test there vehicle there is only 22600 miles at this time on our Ford Edge 2017 not sure if exhaust or some other gas or chemical is getting into the cabin but what ever it is it makes you very light headed and the Ford company will not address this problem the Edge is very similar to the Explorer in many ways and should be looked at the same way the Explorer was checked out when they found the problems with exhaust getting into the cabin area both police and regular issue vehicles

10/13/2018 - at 28,500 miles. Noticed just yesterday when opening panoramic sunroof curtain in driveway, what looked like a large puddle of water on sunroof while parked. Was not there the day before. Checked it and sure enough, it is a large crack across the sunroof. Extremely disappointed to find. Will be contacting local autonation dealership to discuss repair. It had better be under warranty. I've only owned the vehicle for six months. This is unacceptable.
