Escape XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200,000 miles

I bought this used from a reputable dealer, complained about noise from the beginning, was told it was a muffler issue, when I brought it in again, after they supposedly fixed it from a rubbing issue, they fixed, I took it to another shop to have it tuned up and any repairs for a long trip. I was told it was unsafe to drive for the whole bottom was rusted out and could fall off at anytime. I was told it was not worth fixing.

The engine is strong and no problems other then a steering wheel pump. I took back to the dealer who said it was something that he had to replace many times with these vehicles. Have me a cost of $1900.00

I then took it to another reputable shop for another opinion and was quoted to the upper $3000.00 range. I was told it was not worth fixing; however Ford had had a recall on this issue and to look into it myself for Ford would not grant them the recall because the year of the recall was 2005. They said I would have a better chance going personally to Ford, then they would as a shop.

So here I am with a vehicle in my driveway that is not safe to drive. Strong engine, in great shape, but the bottom could fall out at any time. Lovely!

Any suggestions on getting this replaced through the manufacturer?

subframe rotted out

While driving this past weekend I heard a loud noise coming from the rear passenger side. It sounded like my tire blow out. when I went to look it appeared I only had a flat tire; however, it turned out that the subframe of my 2006 ford escape had rotted out and broke away from my vehicle. Thank God I was not driving on the highway at the time this happened. I think Ford recalled this issue for their 2005 models...not sure. But that does not help me with this 2006. I was told that because of the mileage on my car (200k) it would not be worth fixing as it is a significant amount. Therefore, I am in search of a junk yard who will pay me to take it for parts. Ford needs to do the right thing and recall this issue on the other years as well.
