I want to make sure that people hear that there IS a fix to this problem!! I have read several posts of this exact same issue but the mechanics could not figure the problem. Long story short after taking the car in for this issue 2 times, the dealership mechanics said they could not re-create the issue and it would have to happen again before they could resolve my problem. Not very willingly, we took the car back and about 3 miles from my house while on the interstate, the problem occurred again. We were going 65 MPH and the car just died. The little wrench came on on my dash and you can't get ANY gas to the engine. We had to go about 5 MPH down the interstate to get to the nearest off ramp. Luckily Ford was still open and they were very willing to come out and evaluate the situation. Before when this happened, we would turn the car off and then turn it back on and we could go again, but this time the mechanic told us not to turn the car off so that he could hook his computer up to the system and find out what the error was. Luckily, this worked and he said it was the Throttle Body being stuck in the open position. It was letting in too much air to the engine and causing the car to shut off. Apparently these are supposed to be cleaned about every 15,000-20,000 miles to prevent this from occurring. Now that it is fixed the car runs normally again. This has been the ONLY issue we have had since we bought the car with 5800 miles on it. I would say this is a pretty good track record, but this almost caused us to trade in our car since they couldn't figure out what the problem was!
