problem #1

Escape SE 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

We get an electrical shock when closing the driver's side door. Sometimes it happens when closing the passenger door. Note: This occurs when we touch the exterior edge/side of the door(s). We have not been shocked by the rear doors, strangely enough. It seems like this problem has been occurring ever since we bought the car. (We bought it brand new in 2012). I anticipate being shocked every time I close the door, so I close it with my foot (By kicking the plastic trim at the bottom of door).

We are worried that there could be an electrical issue within the door(s) that is causing this problem; like a short for instance. We owned a Volkswagen Jetta prior to the Escape and never had such a problem.
