Water is leaking into the headliner of the drivers side starting where the plastic molding and the fabric headliner meet. I have already checked the sun roof drain and it is not clogged. This happens every time there is a heavy rain and the headliner is stained from the water. I mentioned it to my dealer when I had the vehicle in for a recall, they were less than helpful. Apparently this is not covered but they could call some outside vendor to come in to look at it but I would have to make a separate appointment and there is a fee involved. When I called to make my appointment for the recall (which was done on 6/26/17) I was told that it could be looked at but when I got there I was told otherwise. I first noticed the water stains in the beginning of May. This is my first Ford vehicle I usually purchase General Motors but up until now I have been very happy with my Escape. I don't think it is normal for water to be leaking into the top of the car. Is anyone else having this problem? Will Ford make good on fixing it? I believe that it may be coming in from the windshield.

the car dealership responded quickly, fixed the leak (so far so good) waiting for some really heavy downpours to tell for sure..they also cleaned the interior spot where it was stained. so far i am satisfied. i don't know how long it had been leaking, we bought the car brand new, my husband happen to notice the ceiling stain, and again within a week we noticed the stain was bigger and wet from the rain we had..

water leaks into interior

Customers may notice a water stain on the drivers side A pillar headliner. This is due to water leaking through a bolt hole which attaches the roof rack to the roof.

The repair involves roof rack removal and sealing around the bolt hole. It seems the bolt caused a weld to open very slightly, hardly noticeable. It is not due to windshield or moon roof issues.

Ford knows about this matter. Mine has been repaired and I was given some compensation by Ford (Though not much). The dealer found another Escape with the same issue on his lot and this complaint is cropping up in various Blog postings.
