Escape SL 3.2L V6

I was attempting to close the liftgate and suddenly the entire handle came off in my hand. It turns out that it is a cheap piece of plastic with a couple of thin metal clips on each end. I was able to click it back in, but it is loose and will obviously come off again. In addition, the entire lining of the liftgate is coming loose from the pressure of pulling the handle. This is a poorly designed and cheap feature. The liftgate is so heavy that there is no way plastic is going to hold up under the pressure of such uneven weight distribution. The vehicle is only 2 years old and I bought it new. I hate that I'm going to have to stop using the liftgate because I can't afford to have it repaired. I feel cheated by Ford because they had to know this was a design flaw.
