Escape SE 2.0L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,923 miles

My rear drivers side door all of a sudden decided to not to latch anymore while driving and opened with my 3 month old son sitting right there in his car seat. Through research it looks like a recall was issued this month for them but I was never once notified and it does not show up when I enter my VIN on the Ford website. Door will not close it just bounces back open.

door handle sticks, door won't latch

Beware if you drive a 2013/2014 Ford Escape or are thinking about the new model year as the door handle assembly seems to be the same as the current model. I call this “ The Door Handle from Hell “. While you may normally notice the door handle not latching, it's possible to miss it. I would be also concerned about drivers of these Escapes that have kids as they could easily miss that the door did not latch. The problem is associated with Ford recall 14S03 (Due to an assembly misalignment between the exterior door handle and the door outer panel, the affected vehicles have doors that may be difficult to close or may possibly open while driving.) The recall has not revolved this problem on some Ford Escapes. My 2014 Ford Escape has been in four times including the recall to attempt to fix this issue. I continue to have this problem today. The dealer and Ford Corporate Service has been made aware that I still have this problem and it seems that they have no solution.

door handle sticks, door won't latch

Door handle has been sticking intermittently (door not latching shut) for well over a year! Dealer tried again to fix for the forth time in November 2014 and the problem still exists. Door has come open when I was backing out of my driveway. I have had multiple communication with Ford Customer Service since December 2013 when they first asked for photos to send to their engineering team. The only responses I receive from Ford corporate are that a case number has been assigned to your problem, someone will get back to you or bring your vehicle to the dealer. In fairness to the dealer, they have tried to fix with Ford's input but the issue still exists. 6

door handle sticks, door won't latch

The exterior door handle sticks open. I normally notice the problem when it occurs but not always. Having the door open when driving is shocking and dangerous! Ford Service requested a photo back in January 2014 stating that they would forward to engineering and get back to me but never did.

Dealer tried to fix under warranty using recall instructions from Ford but I'm still having the problem
