Escape SE 2.0L I4 Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 600 miles

Excessive wind noise when driving over 65+ mph. Brought back to dealer and they indicate it is normal noise. I have never had a car that was anywhere near this noisy. The wind noise is extremely loud and annoying. I'm taping off certain areas to see if I can find what might be causing it. The dealer said it might be the roof rack cross bars. I removed them but it did not help.

Escape Titanium 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 600 miles

The wind noise from my new 2016 Ford Escape Titanium panoramic moon roof is annoying, and getting worse. Was slightly noticeable when first purchased, became more noticeable within one month of purchase. The higher the speed over 35, the more noise. Dealership is slammed (Christmas time) so will have to wait until after to get it fixed. Very disappointed in the initial QA of this vehicle, but overall still like the features it has.

Update from Jan 7, 2016: 1/7/2016: I showed the dealer/service guy that when you push up on the panoramic glass (in the closed position) it would stop the wind noise. After checking it out, the dealer advised that the entire panoramic glass unit needs to be replaced. The dealer had to send photographs to Ford to get approval. Further, because it is a 2016, dealer advised it would take up to 10 days to get parts (would have to be manufactured by the jobber providing that component to Ford). No loaner vehicle is being provided by the dealer; will have to bring it back in when the parts arrive.

NOTE: I looked at a new 2016 Escape on the dealer's lot and saw that the panoramic roof of that Titanium was "flush" (the roof sheet metal before the glass, and the rubber seal/front of the glass were at the same level), my vehicle had a drop from the sheet metal down to glass/front seal.

When the car reaches 40 mph the wind noise starts. It sounds like there is a window open. The faster you go the louder the noise gets. Finally took it to the dealer at 210 miles as the inside winshield now needed cleaning, the kind you get after driving for a while, road exhaust. The car was full of dust. You get in and the dust would fly all over from the seats. Dealer had car for 6 hours, couldnt find anything. The noise continues and is driving me out of my mind. I can be doing 70 on the freeway and roll down the window and the noise is the same as when the window is closed. I now have 552 miles on the car and have to dust the interior 3 times! This is a lease which now I'm stuck with for 3 yrs and I cant stand to drive it past 39 mph.

Update from Feb 1, 2016: Now that it's winter I constantly have to have the defrost on since so much air comes into the car. I had someone sit in the back seat and they found both rear windows are emitting air from the bottom of windows and all around the door handles. When the wind blows and driving just 10 mph you can hear the wind coming in from both drivers and passenger front windows. I now have 1900 miles on car and it's only getting worse. I also have cold air coming up from floor and up steering column & since I have to have defroster on all the time I'm freezing from my toes to my knees.
