Michelin Defender LTX M/S size 265/75R16. 4 new tires installed less than 60 days and 1,800 miles by Costco before incident. Tire air pressure checked prior to a trip. On the trip, 1 tire rapidly deflated without warning on the freeway in Arizona. Barely had enough time to pull off the freeway and onto the shoulder. The tire showed no punctures, or tread separation, but the tire sidewalls were wrinkled and distorted. Took tire to Costco for warranty and the tire shop could not find any internal punctures and were unable to determine as to why the tire went flat. They said they have never seen a tire fail like this.

I have a set of autoguard tires size 265/78/16 that were installed on my SUV apx November of 2013 in October of 2014 the tires started to developed crack along the bead line above the rim. This is the same effect or defect that resulted in the recall of autoguard tire size 245/75/16. Both the tire that were the subject of the recall as well as the tires that were install on my SUV were manufactures in the same time period and I believe have the same dot no of 4412.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Excursion. The vehicle has cooper dominator sport A/T tires, line size LT265/75/R16, dot number upw8xdj3007. The contact stated when driving at speeds of 25 mph and over, the steering wheel would become extremely wobbly. The failure persisted and became progressively worse over time. The tires were taken to a tire specialist and the mechanic advised the tires exhibited excessive tread separation. One of the front tires exhibited visible tread separation and was replaced at the manufacturer's expense. The remaining three tires would be replaced at the contact's expense. The contact was able to locate a recall for his brand and line of tires however, the recall did not cover his specific tire size (NHTSA campaign id number: 06T016000: Tires: Tread/belt). The remaining four tires were not yet replaced. The tires were purchased in 2008 and the tire failure mileage was 27,000. The current and failure mileage of the vehicle was 136,000.

: the contact stated while driving 70 mph on dry roads the two driver's side tires blew out within two hours of one another. There were no warning signals prior to the incident. Upon inspection of the other tires the contact noticed tires over inflated and bulged. When a service dealer was consulted, they were unable to provide assistance. The vehicle manufacturer was also contacted, and they were unable to provide assistance. When the tire manufacturer was contacted they determined those were the wrong tires for this type of truck. Traveling North in light rain on ih 55 at brookhaven, ms on Sunday afternoon, March 20, 2005. I experienced a sudden failure of a Firestone steeltex R4S radial tire. Luckily it was on the rear of my 2000 Ford Excursion, and I was able to get to the shoulder quickly and safely. The tire tread had separated from the ply for about a third of the way around the tire on the inside. The tire has 34,000 miles on it. This sudden failure in a similar mode as the other Firestone failures leads me to believe perhaps they should be recalled also. This tire is an original tire that was installed at the factory, and is a load range D tire. My Excursion is a diesel model.

Bridgestone/Firestone tire failure, tire blew for no apparent reason. The consumer received a recall notice for the tires and was told all four of the tires had to be replaced. The consumer was reassured he would be reimbursed for the two tires he had purchased. The consumer received another notice in the mail which stated they would not be reimbursed for the tires he had purchased because the consumer would have needed to purchase the tires at an independent Firestone dealer.

I purchased 4 big O big foot at tires in August 2003. In the four months between July 2004 and November 2004, I experienced 3 separate high-speed catastrophic blow outs on 3 of the tires. In each case, I was traveling at highway speed (65 mph) with my family in the vehicle. The first was on a warm summer day, the second was on a moderate day, the third was at about 35 degrees. The first two blow-outs occurred on the front passenger side. The third was on the rear driver's side. After the replacement of each of the first two tires, the remaining three wheels were rotated. In each case, it was a stuggle to maintain control of the vehicle, but in the third case (rear tire), the car skidded dangerously out of control as the rear end swayed back and forth. Had I not steered into the skid, I am certain the vehicle would have rolled over. The big O dealership replaced the tires each time, but insisted that the failures could only have been caused by encountering some road hazard which caused the tires to de-pressurize quickly, heat up and then blow. However, three high-speed blowouts in four months indicates not an isolated circumstance or coincidence, but a dangerous and potentially deadly pattern.

I own a 2000 Ford Excursion. It just turned 36,000 miles. While driving on the interstate Friday, July 23, 2004 my left rear tire exploded, causing paint damage to the rear of my truck. We replaced the tire with a spare and brought it to a tire dealer. He looked over the other tires and said they didn't look bad but you really can't tell from the outside. While driving yesterday August 15, 2004, my right rear tire blew out causing structure damage to my fender and paint damage to the side and rear of my truck. I again bought a new tire and have contacted my insurance company to repair the damage to my truck. The tires are Firestone steeltex R45 LT265/75 R16. Vehicle = 2000 Ford Excursion.res = Firestone steeltex while traveling on I-15 southbound from brigham city, Utah to salt lake city, Utah, the left (drivers side) rear tire on the vehicle blew out. The vehicle was traveling at a speed of approximately 60 mph and did not hit any debris or anything else on the road. The tire was completely distroyed. Fairly major body damage occured. At this point, I went to a big-O tire dealer and had them remove all Firestone tires from the vehicle and replace them with big-O brand tires. There were no injurys. However, I momentarially lost of control of the vehicle. I had just check the tire pressure in all 4 tires about 45 minutes and 30 miles prior to the blowout.
