Expedition

  • Automatic transmission
  • 141,000 miles

My 2000 Ford Expedition was running and the radio was playing. Tried to turn it off with the key but radio will not turn off. Also, when I started the vehicle up, the windshield wipers started up even though I didn't turn it on. Wipers and radio starting and stopping without me doing anything. It does this every time it rains.

When it rains water goes into the fuse panel on drivers side under the dash ... it just started doing this for about a month .... I have watched Youtube and been on several forums so I have done everything to try and fix it!!!! Have taken all seals from windshield. Took cowl off all drains are open have used window sealant on every thing .. It started with radio going on and off then windows you could hear the fuse box frying under the dash !!!! Then in the middle of the night the headlights came on and ran battery down so mechanic came out put new light switch in 130 dollars !! Then went out next day and it will not come out of Park!!! So that was a 5 amp fuse under the dash and a green fuse under the hood in the fuse box against firewall on drivers side.. Sooooooo it rained again and we have water again :-( so the heater is back in it and trying to dry out wiring again .... and I always unhook the battery while trying to dry it out because you can hear the fuse box making that frying sound and hear stuff trying to kick on and off .... once it is dry and we have no rain it is perfect ?..?? Thank you Mary

Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 143,000 miles

I was awoken last night to hear my 2000 Ford Expedition trying to start on it's own. I do not have a remote start or anything. I went to check it out and shut off the auto lights. Then it did it again. I ended up having to unhook one of the battery terminals in the rain. I have no idea where to start in solving this problem. Plus it was an extremely freaky experience. If anyone has repaired this before, please help.

Radio turns off when head light tuns on. Radio comes back on if shifter is in neutral or park. Dome lite on and off. doors lock them selfs. rear wiper not at all. starter engages when battery is connected, starts and runs if key is in off position. Relays buzz. chimes on and off.

starter engages while running. haunted junk. charging admission. 612-801-7081 Not safe to drive.

Update from Oct 12, 2010: New windsheild, Old one looked fine but bad seal. New computer. worked fine for a year. Now trani shifts at wrong point. 10 sensors it could be, but Ford dealer said must be bad trani. Cost me $140 for them to tell me somthing is wrong but not what. Need to replace at $3800. Bull SHIP. I'll drive until it wont role and never buy another Ford. Not becouse of probems. Becouse they wont stand behind and admit their own mistakes. Found same with My Dodge durango.

I'll buy Chevy or Jap from now on.

Started when it rained a few months ago, approached my car with keys in hand... however the defroster was on... Later the radio, interior lights, headlights will flash then turn off. Tonight, thought maybe someone was trying to steal it.. It was cranking like it was trying to start. Remember - no key in the ignition, no one around. At first, thought maybe it was "haunted" but don't really believe in that. It's truly an electrical issue, but can't figure out how to keep the rain out....... HELP !!!
