I thought my vehicle was possessed. It was a very rainy day and when I got to work i shut the truck off like normal. That is when the fan started too run and did not stop. then it would shut off and on at its own will without the keys even being in the truck. With some research i found out this a very common problem with this make and model and the issue is a leaky windshield allow water too leak on the the inside of the truck and causing issues with the fuse box.

I have a 2000 Ford Expedition The past 3 days we have had hard rains. I went out to my car and found that the floor on drivers sides of the SUV was flooded. My radio was on the car was not. I started the car to move it so that I could get it near an outlet to use the wet vac to remove the water and the wipers would not work. I removed the water from the floors and when I went to move my Expedition It would not start it seems that it is leaking from the windshield. I noticed that there are a lot of complaints on water leakage on Expeditions. Now I am worried that the water may have shorted out the electrical system. Now as I look at these complaints I see a pattern of this happening on all years. Why did the wonderful FORD CORPORATION NOT WARN US OF THIS PROBLEM I THINK AVOID HAVING TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A DEFECT IN THEIR MANUFACTURING OF THIS VEHICLE. NOW I AM HAVING TO CALL OUT A MECHANIC and hope the the damage from this defect has not cause a costly problem. I DROVE THIS VEHICLE OFF THE LOT BRAND NEW HAD IT IN FOR EVERY MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE FOR 100,000 MILES AND THIS COMPANY COULD NOT ONCE WARN ME TO KEEP TRACK OF ANY LEAKAGE FROM THE WINDSHIELD, THIS IS POSSIBLY WHY THEY DID NOT NEED GOVERNMENT MONEY BECAUSE THEY NEVER TOLD THEIR CUSTOMERS OF THE PROBLEMS THAT MIGHT EXIST WITH THIS SUV. RIGHT NOW I'M NOT TO PROUD OF THE FORD CORPORATION.. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THE SAME ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, I'D LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT IT SO THAT I HAVE AN IDEA WHAT KIND OF REPAIRS THAT I MAY BE FACING..

My 2000 Expedition had a dead battery last week. My husband was able to jump start it without any difficulty and I drove to work. When I turned the truck off in the deck, the heat, radio stayed on--even with the key out of the ignition. I cranked it back up and drove straight to the dealership where my truck has remained since. First they said the generic electronic module was bad and needed to be replaced and I said okay. Today they called me and said the fusebox was "shot" and needed to be replaced--damage due to windshield leaking. So the windshield needs to be resealed or replaced. I asked if I would have to pay for all this since the problems have stemmed from a faulty windshield and I was told that yes, I have to pay for it. The cost so far is around $744.00. I see that there is an open investigation of this complaint on the NHTSA website, citing possible recall. Has anybody had any luck getting Ford to pay for this? And if you have the same problems have you filed a complaint with NHTSA? If not, please do and maybe we can get a recall ordered!
