Explorer Eddie Bauer

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

I bought the 2006 Ford Eddie Bauer because I thought it was nice and spacious but I was mistaken. I had a transmission problem 3 years after buying it and got someone to rebuild it for $1800.00 (after bargaining). Guess What it is broken again. I am a single mother, going to school, working and taking care of my four children. I rely on the car for every errand. Now how can I go to work? How can I go to School and take care of my Kids?

I suggest that no one should buy a FORD vehicle anymore unless FORD is able to find a way to fix this problem. This is disheartening. They are making all the profit while their customers suffer . WHY?

Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,000 miles

So, I got my car two years go. Still owe about $3500 on the loan. Never had a problem with it until this. My professor last year told me that she had bought a 2005 Ford Explorer and shortly after the transmission went out (This was in 2015). I was shocked because I didn't have any problems with mine. Wouldn't you know, mine went out too!!!! I have less than 100,000 miles on it and I always get it regularly serviced. So I had to go through the hassles of getting it towed to a transmission shop. I was hoping maybe it was something simple like being out of fluid, because you can't check that yourself, because Ford won't let you because there is no dipstick. They would rather make money off of you taking it to an authorized dealer to have it checked. I had actually called several transmission places first to see if they had any idea based off of what it was doing and they all said the same thing but I was still hoping. Got a call back from AAMCO and they confirmed the problem and said it was going to need a rebuild...a $2500 rebuild!!!!!!!! I don't have $2500, I am in college full time and have two kids and my income is not that high. So I thought I would type my problem into google and see what comes up. Wouldn't you know, there is a whole freaking website dedicated to Ford Transmission problems. They recommended I call Ford first, and see about a possible "goodwill repair" which you better believe I did. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to help because there hasn't been a class action suit or recall and it was over the power train warranty...oh and on an additional note, the mechanic from the transmission garage said that Fords have the most transmission problems out of any other vehicle they get in the shop. I told the guy from Ford that I would be filing a complaint. He said to save my receipt from my repair in case a recall would occur. Yea, that isn't going to help. Pretty sad I have a 79 Jeep that hasn't ever had a major problem. My mom's old vehicle was a Ford and she needed a new transmission as well with relatively low miles for the year. She opted to take a lease out on a new vehicle (not Ford) instead because Ford's don't hold their value so it wasn't worth the cost of the rebuild. My grandmother owns a Ford and she needs a transmission too. This is my first and last Ford and you better believe that I will be warning everyone about the transmission problems. I was quoted about $2500 for the repair, but I won't be seeing the final bill for a couple of days, nor do I really want to see it. A recall needs to be issued on all Ford Transmissions. It's obvious they messed up and my transmission problem isn't a fluke. It's a nationwide problem, and consumers shouldn't have to pay this much for their mistake!!!!!! DO NOT BUY A FORD!!!

Explorer V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

I bought my 2006 Explorer almost 2 years ago and have had to fix multiple items, but this is the worst news - My car won't go into Reverse. I still have 2 years of car payments to make on it, and now I have to fix the transmission. I called a Ford Dealership and they need to keep my car for at least 4 days just to be able to even look at it. I hear this is going to cost me at least a couple of thousand dollars. I always wanted to keep with American made cars, and now I am hearing from other people not too! And this is why!
