The rear liftgate on my 2013 Ford Explorer started flaking and rusting, but Ford will not stand behind getting it repaired. It looks terrible! I feel even worse thinking of the thousands of dollars I paid for a vehicle from a company that doesn't stand behind their products.

My 2013 Ford Explorer was purchased to be our first family car. My intent is that it would last. It is the first car I have ever bought on a loan and the payments are outrageous. To find the paint bubbling along the whole hood and have paint peel off the rear lift gate exposing rust beneath it is hard to believe. This car is always stored in the garage and is taken care of. At the rate it's going this car will look like crap before it is even paid off. Meanwhile my 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse that has 203,000 miles on it looks beautiful and is rust free. It's pretty sad when that car has been sitting outside for years. I have no clue how paint can peel off a car in less than 3 years, and to happen to so many means they have lost their quality. I will be bringing this to the dealership this week along with the reports I have found on the web. I will also be writing a letter to Ford. There is now way these cars were painted in a clean facility. Ford needs to stand behind this or the foreign car dealerships will be getting my business.

A small corner of the back lift gate started to rust - Body Shop owner said that it's because the chrome trim piece across the back had water freeze/thaw that dripped onto the spot over the winter. Not a big deal - just wanted to rant. Car is only 3 years old...shouldn't be rusting!

3 service advisers at the local dealership all agree that Ford should repair the paint. I have a 2013 Ford Explorer Limited and there is a rust spot on the body near the Explorer name plate across the rear of the vehicle. In the same area on the other side of the License plate area the paint is FLAKING OFF. Ford refuses to fix this obvious defect because I am out of the bumper to bumper warranty. I have 52800 miles on this 2013 Explorer. The third email I received from Sarah at the Customer Resource Center states "this will be our last written communication to you regarding this." I am shocked that Ford is refusing to fix the paint and I will make sure to alert as many people to this paint issue on a $40,000 + vehicle that Ford refuses to stand behind its products.
