throttle body failure

My car will just stop accelerating. The wrench warning will light up. I have to pull over, turn off the car, then restart it. Then it drives just fine. I was told that it was the throttle body that needs to be replaced. This issue happens every other week or so, and it could be very dangerous if it happens in a highway. My goal is to make sure people are aware about this problem, and learn what to do to fix it. Maybe if many people also report it, Ford will provide a recall for it.

Why if this is a persistent problem with Ford vehicles, the hasn't been a recall? Ginsburg lives are you expecting to be killed by not recalling and fixing the throttle problems?

My check engine lights came on leaving for a doctor's appt. The wrench came on, engine light and traction control lights. I could not shift into second gear. I had to limp the SUV home and change vehicles. I took it in the next day to get the news that the throttle body needed to be replaced for $600.00 and my 3 year 36K warranty was up and the expense was out of my pocket. I ONLY HAVE 21K ON THIS SUV !!!!! I'm disgusted. I had to replace brakes and rotors at 17K.

It is annoying when you have a new car and the car starts stopping and you are constantly pulling over in traffic. Also when took the car in to dealership stated that usually when the throttle goes out it will still be under warranty, however I was informed the throttle was not under warranty, and I must get it fix along with the valve for a total of $992!!!!!!!!!! The purpose of purchasing a new car is not to deal with mechanical expenses. I am retired and on a limited income. I need my vehicle to commute and to pick up my grandchildren. Well, I did call Ford Explorer Customer Care Center and the customer Representative was very professional and informed me that Diane from Metro Ford Sales would look into my problem, also, the Representative gave me a case #. Therefore, I am expecting a positive resolution to this problem in Jesus Name.

Update from Oct 3, 2014: Praise the Lord my 2013 Ford Explorer has been repaired at a reasonable price. I am planning on getting the extended warranty for any future repairs. Thou, I hope there will not be any future repairs.
