Explorer XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,661 miles

Just hit 6660 miles when my Explore lost power.... maybe that's my sign. Anyways at 6660 mile driving on the 210 FWY, my new Explorer lost power, it coasted to the to the nearest exit. It eventually turned back on, got back on the road and drove home. The next day I took the truck to Ford, they first told me it would take a day to diagnose the problem and since it was not in for a recall they could not provide me a loaner. So, I was forced to rent a car. I got a call from the dealership before end the day to tell me the throttle assembly need to be replace and was under warranty and as a courtesy they would cover my rental... oh how nice. Today they call me told me that the unit is on back order by 10days. Really holy !@$ I took me months to convince my wife to by a Ford and not a Toyota. I don't think that Explore will make it back to my driveway after this. Just saying my Highlander would hit 200000 by now with no issues. Which sucks FORD just lost any chances of my wife buying another car from them. FYI this issue has been happening since 2013 with the Escape NHTSA let Ford call it a "customer satisfaction issue" even do there have been 1.5 million complains about the ETA. Not looking good I think we will most likely cut our looses and look for another car. I bet you the replacement unit is the same unit. F@#$ ay

Explorer XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,269 miles

Was driving at 60 mph when the car suddenly slowed to 5 mph. The wrench light, air bag and service engine light came on. I had to cross three lanes of traffic of the 5 lanes I was on as I could. The emergency vehicle pulled in behind me and I explained what happened. I shut it down and he said if it would start and I could make it to the next exit he would follow. My wife was scared to death. Eventually I was able to limp the vehicle to the next exit where I could take the back roads to my home. It could have been a serious accident and we could have been stranded and my wife and I cannot walk any distance at all due to health issues. I will be contacting my fleet company to direct me on what to do next.

Ford has issues on this vehicle because there are a lot of other issues. I am scheduled to take it in on June 3rd to replace the drive seat as the cloth is coming apart. In addition, you shut it down and it starts back up. It will not start cooling for 5 minutes just to name a few.

I have no idea what it will take to fix it but will be taking it in as this just happened about an hour ago. I started reading these posts and had to report this on this 2016 Ford Explorer XLT with under 10k miles.

Explorer

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,700 miles

Driving on Route 4 during pm rush hour traffic going 65 mph; engine completely stalls, no gas, no ac; warning light comes on dash with a wrench symbol, review manual, click ok; look up manual and it states drivetrain/4WD contact dealership immediately! Seriously?? The vehicle is brand new, only 6700 miles on it! Coasted over to a turn lane, luckily I didn't get hit!

Called dealership then called Ford Roadside Assistance. Tow company was there within 30 minutes. Dealership says Ford doesn't cover loaners/rentals; ITS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE PEOPLE!!! Read that this is happening all over the place with the Explorers and it appears to be the Electric Throttle Body and that the part has been on back order!!! Ford needs to do a recall!!!!!

Explorer XLT 3.5L V6 Tivct

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,500 miles

I was traveling at 65MPH on a tightly packed freeway, Memorial Day Traffic, and all of a sudden, without any warning, I experienced complete loss of throttle response, Max RPM of 1,500 . The cars behind me who were traveling at the same speed almost rear ended me because I did not put on the brakes so no brake lights, just sudden deceleration. I tried to get from the number one (1) lane to the shoulder of the number two (2) lane which was very difficult in the fast paced traffic. I had to have the car towed 14 miles to the Auburn Ford dealership in Auburn California. Auburn is about 90 miles from my home. The dealership has my car and has ordered a new Throttle Body. After reading the web it appears that this is a common problem, and in fact is so common the parts are usually on back order according to the web. I want the dealer to pay for my car rental which they say is only covered under the extended warranty. I also understand that Ford has released a number of Tech Service Bulletin on Throttle Body related issues. No one from Ford has sent me anything about this issue. Due to the sudden loss of Throttle Response this is a life threatening event and should be on a recall.

Explorer XLT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,300 miles

New 2016 Ford Explorer with 6,300 miles. While at 70 mph on I-4, the electronic throttle body failed and dropped the engine to idle. Luckily I was in the slow lane and could get off on the shoulder. Had to be towed to the dealership. They have had the car for a week now, and still can not tell me when I can get the car back. The part is on back order, and apparently is so defective that the issue is occurring at an increasing rate all over the country. The manufacturer can't keep up with the demand for the replacement parts. Ford did get me a loaner, but it is a Fiesta that has been smoked in and has burn holes in the upholstery.

Explorer XLT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,100 miles

This is an ongoing problem with the 2016 Ford Explorer and the throttle body part is on back order with no definite fix date. This is a major problem so the part is at least one to two weeks back order. Took two days for dealer to tell me that it was a throttle body problem. Had to look online to see many comments on this problem. This should be a recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but I think they let Ford off when they promised to repair this problem. It is not fixed and this is a very dangerous problem which could cause an accident, injury or death.

Explorer Limited

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

The car stalled twice and both times I was on 495 a major belt way here in MD. Definitely not safe for a lady. Then FORD told me that it will take approximately a month for my car to be fixed. the loaner they gave me sucks and is not the trim level that I am used to.

Explorer XLT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,100 miles

I bought this car and initially had a problem with the reverse sensor, the dealer fixed it after a week of parts orders. This time it just died, stayed running, aircon on but only idle. The throttle did not work. I stopped and turned it off, restarted it and it went for alittle ways. I did this for 9 times to finally get it home. It was just towed today to the dealer..
