I had my right front bearings go and my wheel nearly fell off as the hub assembly was torn apart inside. One month later.. the left one went.

Had heard a little noise from the front left wheel. Thought it might be the bearing. It was. I had it scheduled to be looked at the next week. I didn't make it that long. It failed to the point that the ability to steer was about lost. The wheel was locked up as the pulled it onto the tow truck. The dealer said that the right front bearing was bad as well. Cost for both $885.00

I guess I went a while before it happened to me. I thought you had to replace the whole hub assembly?, you can just replace the bearings?

replacing the bearings yourself isn't that expensive, hard, or time consuming - it is just messy. my left side went out on a tuesday night on the road so i had it towed. wednesday afternoon. I spent about 1 hour removing wheel brakes and caliper, brake pads and hub. the next morning i spent another hour cleaning the old grease out of the hub, cleaning the spindle, packing grease into the new bearings inner and outer. pressing in the new bearings. after that you just grease the spindle and reassemble. if you are short on cash this is an awesome choice it cost me $13 because i already had wheel bearing grease and it essentially only took 2 hours. if you are interested and need further instructions email me at tmcfadden4@gmail.com

I HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM MY CAR. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE THEN AFTER PULLING OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY I HAD NO FLAT. THEN I THOUGHT I HAD SOMETHING WRAPPED UP UNDERNEATH MY CAR. IT TURNS OUT I NEED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING REPLACED. IT COST $381 AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY RIGHT NOW, NOT FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER CAR JUST SITTING AROUND AND I LIVE FAR AWAY FROM MY JOB (IN ANOTHER CITY) SO I CAN'T CATCH A RIDE TO WORK. ON TOP OF THIS HUGE PROBLEM THE REPAIR SHOP SAID I HAVE SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES WITH MY CAR. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE TO ME, I HAVE TO GET A WHOLE NEW REAR END.
