Explorer Sport Trac XLT 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

AT 89,000 MILES THE TOP END OF THE MOTOR TAKES A CRAP. IF I DIDN'T MAKE OIL CHANGES I COULD UNDERSTAND BUT I'VE OWNED FORD MOTOR VEHICLES MY WHOLE LIFE & NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE.

NOW 7 MONTHS LATER AT 93,000 MILES IT'S COMING APART AGAIN!!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!! I'M GOING TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. I WISH I COULD FIND OUT IF A 4.6 V8 WILL WORK IN IT BECAUSE IT MAKES ME SICK TO PUT ANOTHER 4.0 V6 SOHC MOTOR IN THERE BECAUSE THEY ARE CRAP!!!!!

Explorer Sport Trac XLT 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

First off I have owned this truck since new, it has been serviced on a regular basis and is in immaculate condition. It has just over 100,000 miles on it and has the original tires on it and the first set of brakes were just put on it. I have really enjoyed it, but last week I started it drove 200 feet with it and kissed the engine good bye! No warning no nothing! This is totally unacceptable and the only comment from Ford is well you should have taken the extended warranty. The dealer has quoted a price tag of $5600. to repair with a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty, why can't the factory give the same? This appears to be an ongoing problem and the consumer should be getting some support from the factory as this is obviously a design flaw in the valve train assembly. Come on Ford belly up to the bar.
