Driving on I4, engine just died without warning, would not restart. Managed to pull over to side of road and had to be towed. No explanation from Ford dealer at the time other than 'it happens'. The fuel tank has to be pulled because the pump is in the tank. Aggravating costly repair.
Note this is being placed here retroactively because it happened a SECOND time, which I will report separately.

This is the second time this has happened with my truck. I am the original owner, service kept up but not always at a Ford dealer (I use a local well known reputable provider).
I was driving on I95 and the engine died, would not restart, I did manage to get to the shoulder of the interstate. I had to call and wait for a tow, had to tow the truck to a dealership not near me, but I was familiar with it. It is the same issue I had around 8.5 years ago at about 60,000 miles. That issue was also repaired at a Ford dealer (who mysteriously says they have no records because they purge their repair records at 7 years).
There is a definite issue with this year sport trac and the fuel pump. Don't "at' me about ethanol in the fuel, if that is the issue, Ford has an engineering / design department that should have figured it out and corrected the problem in replacement parts.
Yes, I'm pissed at Ford and one particular dealership.
