F-150 FX4 Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission

BRAKES BEGAN GRABBING INTERMITTENTLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER & THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A DAY, TEST DROVE & CLAIMED THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. PROBLEM PERSISTED TO THE POINT IT WORE A 1-MONTH OLD SET OF FRONT BRAKE PADS DOWN TO BARE METAL. TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO DEALER AND THEY REBUILT THE FRONT BRAKES (NEW CALIPERS, PADS & ROTORS). I THOUGHT SURELY THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY; FORD SAID OTHERWISE. THIS WAS A $45,000.00 TRUCK (2 YEARS OLD) WHICH I MAINTAINED IAW THE FORD SCHEDULE & IT NEEDED A COMPLETE BRAKE REBUILD. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT. BEWARE PEOPLE!

caliper failure

I bought the truck with 56K miles on it, with just light driving the truck was shaking fairly violently when I stopped. so I took the brakes apart and found that the pistons on the front right caliper where tilted downward, causing heat spots in the rotors which caused them to warp. So i went with a different company's brakes and all seemed well, until i had a grinding noise from the front while stopping... turns out these new calipers did the same exact thing, but because i switched rotors i didn't notice it as they never warped. so now i have to replace the rotors again and i still don't know whats wrong with the calipers!
