This truck only has 77,000 km (47,000 miles) and its the third major brake job I've had to do. The brakes are either faulty in their design or the dealership is robbing me by insisting that the rotors need to be changed every time the pads need changing. Any why the hell does it cost over $1000 CAD to change pads and rotors anyway? I dropped the car off, it was done by 10:30 AM and they charged me for four hours of labor!!

3RD TIME FOR THE SAME THING

Brakes pulsing front end shaking and need to resurface the front rotors and replace the pads front and rear, this is the third brake job on this truck in 66k miles, something is defiantly wrong and Ford still wont admit a problem or even offer to help in the repairs.

I have had well over 25 cars in my life time and never once have I had 3 MAJOR brake jobs in less that 100k in miles

Ford still says its normal wear and tear but the only wear and tear I see is in my wallet each time I have to take it back in

Lodged a complaint with the customer relations department this time to see where it goes

This is the second time in 20,000 miles with the same issue brakes pulsing. Replaced front rotors and machined the rear AGAIN ...only 17k miles from the first time this was done! Ford still telling this is not a problem??? So here I sit at 40,826 miles on this vehicle with two major brake jobs and a recall completed on the master cylinder but there is not problem?

I purchased this truck 6-8-2013 at the first 7K brakes stuttered and they Ford dealership turned rotors. and same the for the next 3 years. Here we are 5 year to the date of purchase I'm still having the same issue. Took it back to same dealer again service tech took for test ride and notice the problem. called the service manager and left message last night and received call back this morning. Told me that Ford won't fix the problem the found with 2013 and 2014 but they fixed in 2015's. It's still under warranty not the rotors or the brake pads its a brake problem. Oh hell your going to fix this. Called Ford Customer Care 800 number and filed a claim I have 40,800 miles and 2 year to the day left on my warranty and I'm not pay 40K for this to keep happening. If I wanted and crap truck I would have got a Chevy.

I'll keep y'all posted on this adventure next week!

I purchased this truck new. It replaced a 2008 that never had a brake problem. That one replaced a 2004 that also had no problems with. The 2013.At 35000 miles the rotors warped. Turned under warranty. 45000 miles warped again, had Goodyear replace the rotors. 50000 warped new rotors, so had rotors turned and replaced the factory pads. I am at 75000 miles and have not had any more problems. I believe the pads are the culprit. When I replaced the rotors and pads I insisted that none of the parts were from ford. Between 2008 and 2013 they changed something with the the brakes and will not admit that it is there problem. I kept all receipts in case they decide to reimburse for the repairs.

Basically the same issues as what happened in 10/15, and this time, they told me "You're driving your truck too hard". Seriously? I mean... SERIOUSLY? Driving a truck TOO HARD? Not to mention, in this particular case, I have not been driving this truck that hard. My previous F150 I was trailering all over the place, pulling a boat, driving 40K miles/year. Since I have had this truck, I fly more than drive, and I have only about 40K miles on a 2013 truck and I only use a trailer about 4-6 times a year. Driving TOO HARD? Jeez!

So, I called Ford customer service because I didn't really appreciate they way they handled it at the dealership, and the Ford people said "we will make sure that all the resources that Ford can provide available to make sure you're taken care of" (this was repeated over and over and over). They apparently called the service manager, who I have to assume is one of the most irascible people in the world, and he basically told me "there is nothing that shows any indication of a deeper problem, and we don't know how hard you drive your truck". So... what that means is that the customer service "all the resources of ford" is code for "we are trying to appease you but we're not going to do anything."

So, I paid for it and ate those sour grapes. My previous F150 - had it for 12 years, basically had almost NO problems. Had a Ford Ranger, never had a single problem. Had an Expedition, no problems except AC and that wasn't too big a deal. Had an Explorer... (most recent before my current F150) and we had transmission problems galore on that stupid thing, but most covered under warranty until we just got rid of it. To me, it's signs of Ford dropping fast in quality.

purchased this truck new at Hemborg Ford in Norco, CA. I reported what felt like a warped rotor on the truck when it went in for its 15K mile service, and the paperwork showed that there was "lab-mechanical" work done without specifying what had been done. It does say on the paperwork that both rotors were "found to be out of round". I have been working at getting the rotors replaced under the factory warranty, in which, after reading carefully find that rotors are covered under the warranty and brake pads/linings are replaced under factory warranty if they need to be replaced prior to 18K miles. Hemborg has refused to do the work under the warranty and has quoted me over $500.00 to do the repair.

I started to get a bad vibration in the steering wheel and had the dealership check it out. They said it was the front brakes and rotors. Since it was still in the first year and I still had the factory warranty, they replaced them under warranty. It was a 2013 leftover I bought in 2014. I was not very happy since I traded in a 2007 GMC truck and never had to put brakes on that.

I started to get a vibration in the steering wheel AGAIN!!! Took the truck in for inspection and ask them to check the problem. They told me the brakes and rotors had to be replaced. I asked if they could just turn the rotors down and they said they could not be cut down. THIS IS THE SAME ROTORS THEY JUST PUT ON ONE YEAR AGO.

This was not covered under warranty because the said it was normal wear and tear on the vehicle. I could not believe my ears. I asked how the be normal and they just blew me off and said there was nothing they could do. I traded in a 2007 GMC truck with close to 100,000 miles and never had to put brakes on. Next truck will definitely be a GMC again.

bought this brand new f150 xlt in 2013 before 17000 miles brake and rotors had to be replaced grooves in rotor from brake and over heating. took it to dealer only to hear that its not under warranty. okwhy i asked is this problem happening so soon when the last ford truck i had i didnt have to do this until i had almost 55000 miles. well no end to this story just recently had to replace brake pads like one month ago brake pads replaced replaced end of problem no no no here we go again. brakes are screeching and grinding matal to metal sound rotors now f*cked up as well as the f*ckin new brake i just installed no need to go to the dealer only to hear the same f*cking story perhaps it my driving well i only drive a grand f*cking total of 20 miles a day back and forth to work so whats the story my driving habbits or some defects with these f*ckin trucks case replacing rotors and brake pads every 8 to 12000 mile is a bit extreme i think

F-150 XLT 3.5L V6 Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission

The front brakes on my 2013 F150 XLT 4wd are pulsing - AGAIN. Had the rotors turned around 5000 miles under warranty which solved the problem for a while. Now, four months out of warranty, they are pulsing again and getting worse. Had it in for an oil change and asked the service tech if this was typical for the F150 to need rotors turned every 5000 miles. True to form he didn't know but he did mention it to the mechanics who noticed that the back side of the front rotors was rusty. Now that tells me that the inside brake pads are not contacting the rotor like the outside pads. Both sides of the rotor should be equally shiny. Sure rotors rust quickly in a humid environment but first application of the day should clean them off. If the inside face never cleans then something is wrong. The caliper pistons push the inside pad to the rotor. Then the caliper frame translates using the caliper mount as leverage to bring the outside pad into the rotor. Something in the design is preventing the inside pad from making good contact while still allowing the caliper to bring in the outside pad. Sounds like a design problem since its on both front wheels.

My plan is to replace calipers, pads and rotors with aftermarket and not try to deal with Ford. In the end I should be better off. Might have to wait until the recall comes out to see if the leak somehow impacted the calipers.

SIMILAR TO OTHER COMPLAINTS I AM READING, MY BRAKES SHAKE LIKE CRAZY. I HAD THE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED AT 10,200 MILES UNDER WARRANTY, MACHINED AT 21,405, AND THEN REPLACED AGAIN AT 32,315 MILES. FORD WAS EXTREMEELY DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH AND WOULD NOT OWN THIS PROBLEM.

IMAGINE, SPENDING CLOSE TO $45K FOR A NEW LARIAT AND HAVING THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I OWNED OTHER FORDS INCLUDING F-150 AND NEVER HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THE EXPLORER I TRADED IN ON THIS VEHICLE DIDN'T NEED THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACED UNTIL OVER 82,000 MILES. I REALLY WISH FORD WOULD FESS UP TO THIS PROBLEM.

I THINK I HAVE PERMANENTLY FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE ROTORS AND PADS WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE AFTERMARKET SLOTTED AND DRILLED ROTORS. STILL TO BE SEEN IF THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKAGE IS THE ROOT CAUSE.

Today I took my 2013 Ford F150 in for its 25000 mile service {oil change and tire rotation}, after being there for 1 1/2 hours the sevice advisor come out to tell me, my brake shoes where worn down to 3mm and my disks where scored.

I said I only have 26000 miles why do I need new brakes now, he said well it must be the way you drive or something. I don't drive that way. I drive cautiously and normally coast to a stop sign or light. Well, what choice do I have, I told him to go ahead. {$180.00| While I am waiting I pull out my Iphone and lookup "Ford brake problems" and low and behold up comes a complaint web site that has a number of the same complaints as mine for the same year. I show this to the service advisor and he says he will talk to his manager about it. Well I finally get my bill after 3 1/2 hours and there are the charge of $180 plus tax and related charges. $264.00 for an oil change and tire rotation plus the front brakes only.

So before leaving I spoke with the service manager who knew nothing about any F150 brake problems of which I was complaining. He stated {without writing anything down} he would talk to Ford. I said don't worry I will too, and left.

When I got home I called Ford and he was nice, but the only thing he could do was record my complaint. So in order to get my money back I am writing this letter.

Now just so you know the dealership is Advantage Ford In Stuart Fl..Now once I left the dealership the feeling of the steering wheel was completely different then when I drove in. When I left the feel was solid going down the road, what I didn't notice was that I was getting a slight shimmy coming from the front end and really didn't notice it until it was gone. So yes there is a problem with the front calipers on the Ford 2013 F150's.

I purchased the truck with 25,000 miles. After driving only 500 miles I experienced extreme vibration when braking. I took it back to the dealers and they re-turned the rotors. They explained that if the rotors get hot, and I drive through a wet puddle, then the rotors get warped. That should not happen. So now I hit around 50,000 miles and it is doing it again.

How can I not be expected to drive through a puddle in a truck? OMG! I hope they fix it and cover it under my expensive bumper to bumper warranty. However, they should put better quality brake systems on these trucks. It's a hassle.

On a side note: I still love my truck over my last 2013 Silverado. It had bigger issues.

My sincere apologies to the heat my wife has taken over the early failure of the rotors. I am 50 years old and NEVER have I had a vehicle come close in mileage to having the rotors requiring attention (to be turned). Unfortunately, my wife has brothers who are Chevy fans and really gave her grief over her poor choice of vehicles. There was also the thought that perhaps she was braking too hard for a heavier vehicle as she drove a Honda Pilot and Accord prior to this vehicle. I enjoy the ride of this truck, but truly...the rotors, the poor seal for the cover for the sunroof which disappointingly allows sunlight to escape in when closed, the milky-white liquid found inside the front differential, or the Ford My Touch slowly losing its functions, such as reading my text messages, has caused me to re-think how long I will keep this vehicle and how long will it be again when I buy a Ford. I purchased a Ford WindStar that died at roughly 125k (faulty engine).

Ford MUST do a better PR job reaching out to owners. Absolutely they'll take a financial hit, but I'd love to stay with American made and not eliminate supporting the American workforce.

Complained earlier about my 2013 Ford F150 FX-2 Sport's brake rotors having excessive pulsing/vibration when the brakes were applied at 27,645 miles. The dealer replaced the rotors, Calipers and brake pads. Now at 53,438 miles (almost the same number of miles as before) I was feeling the same pulsing/vibration when applying my brakes. The dealer once again test drove the truck and recognized the problem the first time, this time. They machined the rotors only and the vibration went away.

I have the extended warranty but was still charged $161 for the work. I was told this was normal wear and tear and not covered under warranty. I never drive off road but was told the excessive wear was probably due to our sandy area for driving. I live on a golf course and drive 4 miles each way to and from work. Then I was told it was probably due to stop and go traffic. I'm not in any traffic. I have 2 stop signs from my house to my work parking lot. I have no doubt this will happen again. Any recommendations out there on getting Ford on top of this?
