F-150

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

On March 25th and again on the 26th of 2019, the truck went from 40mph to 1st gear causing an abrupt jerk with the truck. In both cases the truck had to pullover to be turned off and turned back on to stop this unintended gear shifting. This vehicle is not safe to drive but is necessary for daily transportation. Ford has issued a safety recall notice 19S07 / NHTSA Recall 19V-075 but still are unable to fix it. According to Ford, they are working on software for this repair. In the meantime there is nothing we can do about this vehicle that can jump from any speed down to 1st gear.

Purchased vehicle off my father-in-law with 43,000 miles and no recorded issues 7 months ago for a work truck. All of sudden two weeks ago I'm getting on the interstate and the truck starts losing power with check engine light indicator. Took vehicle into the local Ford dealer where they told me they couldn't figure out why it was showing underboost code after 3 hours but if the problem reoccurred I should call for another appointment. Well, needless to say it happened again on my way back from South Carolina a couple weeks later but this time the turbos would completely shutdown and reset after I turned the truck off and on. Its now showing signs on-top of the underboost issue of gps, turn signals, lights, and side mirror auto tint slightly malfunctioning. After leaving with the dealer for two days they're now telling me I need to replace primary timing chain & all vct units for $3,000 dollars. Given this is not as bad as I anticipated they're now telling me after I did some research on my own that these replacement parts might not guarantee correction and that I'm out of the powertrain warranty by one gd month! Dealer also told me that the electrical issues were in no way connected to the main issue that occurred. I'm no mechanic but this sounds like a bunch of bullshit guessing to me! How in the hell can Ford not know how to fix these engines after reading hundreds of complaints which sound exactly the damn same?

Driving my 2013 F150 on a 4 lane highway going 60 mph, suddenly I lost power, all the gauges dropped and wrench indicator came up. Scared the hell out of me! I was able to pull over, shut the truck off, turned back on and it was fine. It happened about once a day since then. Until one morning I started it up and it had no power, the transmission would not shift, wrench indicator came on. I shut truck down and started up again. It cleared up but only lasted a short time. It did it four more times before I turned around went home. I took it to my mechanic. He said it is same problem Ford had in 2011 and 2012. F150s were recalled but was not a recalled in the 2013.

This should have been a Recall, according to Ford it was not on my VIN #.

They had a Recall for the same problem on the 2011-2012 F150 and Expedition, Mustangs and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. Not sure if they have to wait till a lot of complaints come in to issue a recall for the 2013 or other years? But Mine had the same problems and could have caused a Crash!

The Customer care of Ford said all recalls are VIN # Specific, I do not agree with this!

Also when this problem happened it took 2 days to get some one to check the problem and 1 dealer did not have a Transmission Mechanic on Staff.

Where do I start. I was getting off the freeway when all of a sudden I lost complete power and the transmission kept down shifting. The brakes seemed to not work nor the power steering as I lost power. I pulled over and switched off the ignition. I restarted the vehicle and it was a sluggish start and then ran ok. This happened a few more times at slow speed so luckily there was no danger in pulling over. The last time I was traveling at 55mph when the same thing happened, bring the truck to a screeching halt. Luckily there were no drivers behind me and I was able to pull over safely again. I took the truck to the dealer and demanded they keep it until fixed. They said there was a FORD bulletin on the problem. They installed parts # AL3Z 7G276 B connector, inspected for transmission operation cont KOEO code check C ODE P0722 run oasis for any related messages. Found TSB 16-0008 related to trans concern perform TSB replacement of molded leadframe trans internal harness replace fresh fluid road test pass 7G276/D4 No problems since the fix, but extremely dangerous conditions

First of all the dealership I purchased my 2013 Ford F-150 STX V8 5.0 was new not used said that this dealer offered a life time warranty on the internal drive train so went to dealer and a advisor told me that it had to be a lubricated part which the code that came up is . Then she stated that it was a grey area and the tech. would have to take apart to see if it was covered. To me this is very misleading almost to the point of false advertising, the transmission shifts from 5th gear all the way down to 2nd and the back wheels lock up and no power odometer went to 0 and had to pull to side of road with cars almost hitting me in the rear then have to cut off truck and sit for a few moments and it may run ok for awhile. The code that comes up is P0720 which means output Sensor circuit. I am at a loss here and do not know what to believe one dealer said may just need to update system and other dealer said need to replace output sensor. The output sensor is located inside transmission on a valve body. Dealer fix will be around $500.00 which I believe the dealer should be liable . The dealership is Green Ford in Greensboro N.C.

While driving down a city street at approximately 40-45 mph one evening, the truck on it's own braked. It felt like if I had abruptly stepped on the brake. We jerked back from the momentum and I noticed the RPM going up. I did not have my foot on the gas pedal. The street was empty which aside from everything was a good thing because I was afraid of getting hit in the back and I had my two kids.
