There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that as he restarted the vehicle and switched gears to drive, the vehicle would not move. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake calipers had seized onto the rotors. The contact stated that the brake calipers, brake pads, brake lines, and the rotors were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred intermittently while driving. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the ABS assembly needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of the repair since the VIN was not included in a recall related to the failure. The contact also stated that the front passenger-€™s door inadvertently opened while driving. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The manufacturer was notified of the failures and referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure, they informed the contact that the case was being reviewed. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Twice as I was entering into an intersection during a left hand turn the passenger door (first time) flung open. I could not close it so I drove with the seat belt tide to the door for 4 miles to the nearest Ford dealer for service. They acknowledged that this has happened to other drivers. These latches are apparently defective. Ford only replaced the defective door latch letting me drive off with the possibility of other latches failing in the future. Saturday evening before easter the rear passenger door flew open as I was driving through an intersection. Since the door did not close the cabin light stayed on until they finally got to fixing it. Again they can only fix the bad door latch, and will not replace the other two. This is a very very very hazardous issue which could become deadly to bicyclists or pedestrians.

Then 3 weeks later (September 4, 2014) the right back door latch failed and would not stay closed. Then on March 5, 2015 the left back door latch failed and would not stay closed. Also note in March 2014 this also happened to the trunk latch.

The front doors to my 2013 Ford Fiesta would not latch properly after unlocking, getting into my car and trying to close them. The latch would not close, therefore leaving my doors unable to close and making the car non-drivable. To be fixed, the entire locking mechanism needed changed costing $785 dollars to repair. Recently this past week, the same thing happened to my rear driver side door while I was getting ready to turn onto the interstate to go to work. The door swung open, making it very unsafe to operate on the road, and I turned around to go back home to switch to my wife's car. Again, the whole mechanism needed changed to repair to the cost of $345 dollars. A car that is 2 years old with less than 50K should not have big and potentially dangerous issues such as this. Hopefully Ford will do the right thing a do a recall for this model.

We have had our Ford Fiesta in on three separate occasions to have the door latch replaced. The door flies open while driving my nephew almost fell out of the car. The just replace it with the same defective parts. The transmission has not shifted properly since we bought it new and the my sync has never worked. This is the worst car we have ever had.

On August 8th, the driver's door would not latch. The latch was replaced at the dealer ($450). On September 5th, the front passenger side door stopped latching. We called 5 local dealers before we could find one that had the part as we were told it was on national backorder. When we were able to locate a dealer with the part, we were told that it was reserved for the service department only. If we wanted to be placed on the waiting list to purchase it to have installed elsewhere, we would be #7 on the waiting list. The problem appears identical to the issue that resulted in the escape recall in may: The second case covers about 692,700 escapes. Exterior door handles can bind and stop the door from latching properly. This could allow doors to open while the SUVS are in motion.

After driving three miles from home early in the morning, I opened my drivers door and closed to leave, but the door wouldn't close. It bounced open. The latch would not work. I took it to the dealer, they said they'd never seen that before. The latch needed to be replaced. After three days they got the part and fixed it. I picked it up on a Saturday and the next morning the two rear doors broke. Both did the same thing. I took back to the dealer, who said again that he'd never seen anything like it. He told me that he'd have to find out how long it would be to get the parts. This is obviously an issue. The dealer said the parts were on back order from Ford and that it wouldn't be in until the end of August. I asked to have the final front passenger side door replaced as well and he said they couldn't do it unless Ford recalled the parts or it was broken. I explained that this was a huge safety issue and that there was obviously something wrong. I also called Ford, and spoke to their customer service. A manager there said they couldn't have the dealer replace the last door unless it breaks. I guess I should hope that I'm not driving when it does. This needs to be recalled. I have seen a lot of other complaints for the same issue.

The passenger rear door was opened using the outside door handle. After trying to close the door, it would not close and kept bouncing open. After inspecting the latch, it was found out that it was not in the closed or latched position. The "plastic" latch was in the open position and when it was placed into the closed or latched position, it would not latch and just pop open. If this "plastic" latch would have broken while the car was moving one of my children could have fallen out of the moving vehicle. A "plastic" door latch on a "metal" catch is a safety violation. Plastic striking metal every time the door is open and closed is not very smart because the plastic will always break, as it has in my vehicle.
