Five Hundred Hood 3.0L-Dohc V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,060 miles

Paint is peeling/bubbling on hood. I contacted Ford Motor Company to no avail. Went to a Ford Dealer and they wanted $751. It was stated that it was due to corrosion and had a 3yr warranty. Should we have it painted elsewhere and keep the bill, maybe some day get reimbursed?

I take extremely good care of our family vehicle. In fact, I just waxed it again (about twice a year) yesterday. There's been a few issues that I haven't been happy with. This one is one of the big ones (paint bubbling starting under the hood). I'm a bit upset at myself that I didn't see this any sooner, while it was still under warranty. I noticed "something", but nothing as bad as it now looks. I also just found out that TSB 06-25-15 (which supersedes 04-25-1) is out there about this paint problem. All I'd like is to get this paint defect resolved. I'm not asking for anything extra. We bought this vehicle new, and have very low mileage (<60,000 miles as of today). The main thing that would hurt its resale value (if we ever decide to sell it) would be this paint job.

My trunk lid did the same thing while under warranty & Ford fixed it . The hood was not under warranty by the time it started to bubble & peel & Ford does know of the problem but refuses to repair, saying it is not a safety issue! Well it is an issue with me and I am angry!

THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ON MANY FORDS WITH ALUMINUM HOODS. I BELIEVE THERE IS A CLASS ACTION UIT FOR THIS PROBLEM
