Five Hundred SEL

  • Automatic transmission
  • 190,000 miles

attempt to accelerate car chugs, idling it runs fine

DTC codes P0191 and P0149 returned on scan, but mechanic not convinced it's the Fuel Pump. Ford mechanic says it "could be" the Throttle Body due to For Five hundreds have a known issue with throttle Body. Learned today that Ford offered a one-time fix for this, but I NEVER received a letter. This could have all been avoided had they sent me a letter. My car is under 10 years old but over 150,000 apparently the offer (not recall) expired in May of 2013.

The part is NOT CHEAP, actually neither option is cheap.. So what happens if I go the route of the Fuel Pump based on the DTC codes, and it ends up not being the fuel pump, I'm stuck with that bill as well as a bill for replacing the Throttle Body.. Ford should replace this part for FREE regardless of the number of miles and offer expiration. How is a customer to know there was such an offer if they didn't receive a letter!
