Dealer replaced fuel pump/sender unit. Same problem. Then they replaced the other sender unit (yes there are 2) works as it should now. $932.00 later....I despise the dealer....but....love the Flex

Flex SEL

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

This is a huge safety hazard. I have run out of gas on the freeway with my daughter in the car when the tank gets low. at approximately 70 miles to empty it immediately goes to zero. I run out of gas even though the gas is not empty. I have paid to have it fixed which didn't work. I took it to the Ford dealer and they couldn't figure out was wrong with it, recommended a fuel sending unit for $700 but couldn't assure me that that would fix it. My husband also ran out of gas on the freeway - very dangerous. I ran out of gas on the street and now have to fill up my gas tank every four days to assure that I don't run out of gas. It is very very dangerous and I'm very frustrated with Ford.

here we go again, i'm done, now fuel gauge problems and check engine light, 3 weeks after getting it back, that is fuel senders 2x, fuel pump, purge valve, and now this, dropped off at dealer last night, told him i'm going to take this piece of crap and drive it and trade it in on a toyota or something else, but was told to wait by my attorney he is filing a suit for lemon law and some federal warranty act, so just have to sit it out for now, done with flex vehicles big piece of crap, and american manufacturers want to know.
