Focus SE 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

The problem appears to be related to the positive power cable. I have replaced the connector at the battery and this seemed to improve the situation. I have had 3 mechanics and 2 engineers at my work look at it and we can only go through it one step at a time. Wiggling the power cable seems to be the temporary fix. My next step is to replace the entire positive cable assembly. Ill let you know how it goes after that.

Focus SE

car jerks, jumps, doesn't start at times, key won't turn ignition, gas surges and drops, radio shuts off, lights flutter when hitting the window button, complete loss of power to car while going 55-60 down highway. Last month the check engine light came on and guess what another wire needed replace for the fuel line...160.00. I only got this vehicle last fall with 30,000. Since then it's been in the shop 8 times and it's cost me 1960.00 in addition to normal maintenance. Today my car is going back into the shop because now it won't go in reverse....shocker! I travel two hours a day and need reliability and have two kids and 1 income, I can't afford to fix the junk and can't afford to buy another car that works...thanks ford!

All within the same problem and same thing the car jerks, jumps, doesn't start at times, radio cuts out. Driving down the road it makes a loud clunk all dash lights come on speedometer drops to zero like the car stalls while I am driving! I have had people tell me the check engine light is a security code, now the cluster. I don't think anyone knows!

Went through FIVE standard Ford radios before they finally admitted it was an electrical short which was causing my radio to act sporadically. When I asked them to find the short, they looked over the wiring and concluded there was nothing they could do.

They actually suggested I send the radio back for a 6th time, even though they didn't think it had anything to do with the problem. Unbelievably inconsiderate service from Heritage Ford in Burlington Vermont.
