Focus ZX5 2.0L

I pulled up this webpage to try to help me with the problem with my Ford Focus. It did. My focus started to stall while driving the transmission light would come on when stalling. also wipers would come on at the same time. I took it to a friends garage. We hooked up computer ran diagnostic that showed nothing and will not till car dies .thats why I did not go to dealership. But it was worth a try to see. but I did not have to pay as you would at a dealership. i started researching on car complaints for fixes . Came across one with egr valve fix. Their is a egr metal tube that runs from valve to front of motor. their are two seperate wiring harnesses that run from back to front of motor. they both run beside egr metal tube. one harness was laying on egr tube which caused it to melt on tube which wires were grounded together. It cost about two dollars to fix a couple of splices and black electrical tape and a zip tie to tie harness back up It did fix the problem. The wires I fixed dead ended to three plugs maf censor was one the second was a battery wire the third was the ignition coil pack which I believe was the problem with the grounded wires causing the motor to stall. I have not had any problems after I corrected this problem.i have 205600 miles on focus in all it has been a pretty good car hate to say. I hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

Focus ZX5 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 128,000 miles

a couple months ago, my car wouldn't start let alone be able to move the tires with the steering wheel....found out it was the transmission took me over a 1000 bux to rebuild the transmission...6 months later come to find out that the transmission needs more work which is gonna cost over another 1000 dollars, also a catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, it has vacuum leaks, so in conclusion to that every mechanic, dealer, person, etc., all said i would be lucky to make it to 150,000 miles without this happening...i am now at 137,000 miles....all the work will cost well over 3000 dollars and at this point the car is most definitely not worth my money or my time. oh! i almost forgot to mention i figured out why my car was such a gas saver...because i have Styrofoam under my bumpers...that made me feel really safe! CHEAP PIECE OF CRAP!

MY CAR KEEPS STALLING WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. EVERYTHING LOCKS UP WHEN IT HAPPENS THAT IS NOT TOO COOL. IT HAPPENED ON A BRIDGE WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND NO I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS GONNA DO IT. AND THE BRIDGE WAS UP ON A LITTLE HILL SO WHEN THE NEXT CAR CAME IT BARELY MISSED US. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CANT FIND THE PROBLEM AND NOW IF I GET IN IT I AM LUCKY IF I GET AROUND THE BLOCK. IT IS A REAL INCONVENIENCE SEEING I HAVE TO BORROW MY DAUGHTERS CAR AND CANT DO THAT TILL AFTER 530 PM. THIS REALLY IRKS ME TO THE MAX.

Focus 2.0L Ltr

  • Manual transmission
  • 167,000 miles

1st. high mileage is because my husband is a courier. 2nd. We've had this problem at 5 mo., and we're not sure what's wrong, and our mechanic doesn't know either. We drive it about 50 to 100 miles give or take, and it stalls out like it isn't getting gas, after you let it set for a few minutes, then it starts up and goes again. The other day I only drove it for about 10 miles when it stopped, after it sets for 2 or 3 minutes, it starts up again. Yesterday I drove it for 100 miles before it stopped again. We don't know if it the gas filter which was changed in Feb. of this year, or maybe the fuel pump. It acts like it not getting gas when it stops running. Could it be dirt in the rail? which is a fuel reservoir. $100 to do a diagnostic, then probably another $300 for parts and labor or more.

MY FOCUS STARTED TO SHAKE AND AS I WAS DRIVING INTO MY PARKING LOT THE CAR TURNED ITSELF OFF! WTF?! THIS IS MY FIRST CAR, I AM ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND DONT HAVE THE RANK TO BE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH A CAR THATS 2 YEARS OLD WITH JUST UNDER 25,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO FORD (STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY) AND THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT IT MIGHT BE A FUEL PROBLEM... THAT I WAS LETTING MY CAR RUN ON AN EMPTY TANK. FYI... I FILL HER UP WHEN SHE HITS A QUARTER TANK. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM TOOK PLACE 3 DAYS AGO AND I AM STILL CONFUSED ON WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON 3 DAYS AFTER AN ENGINE PROBLEM TOOK PLACE. WELL IF YOU EVER THINK ABOUT BUYING A NEW/USED FORD FOCUS... DONT! TAKE IT FROM ME AND THE OTHER PERSON WITH THE SAME ISSUE, THAT THIS CAR IS A PIECE OF CRAP. I WANT TO TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW ONE.

Focus ZX3

engine stalls and cuts out. I would never recommend a ford or especially a zx3 to anyone its a piece of crap not worth any money and wouldnt even drive it for free. Ford has a poor customer service and repair rating, they keep telling me it bad gas, well it shouldnt be bad gas I pay a pretty penny for it but the quality of ford is less than desirable and not worth it, once I drive this car to the ground I am going to buy a Honda
