wheel bearing went out

I have a 2009 Ford Focus SE with only 22,200 miles, I use this car only to travel couple times a year, I always like it because I have another 2002 with 146,000 miles owned since new.

Last week my 2009 started to make a very weird noise coming from the outside of the vehicle when I was traveling and needed to come back home because the noise was getting worst that even my little 10 years old daughter noticed, but I was not sure form where the noise was coming, first I changed the tires from my old 2002 to the 2009 and the noise still was there (was no defective tires), then decided to take the car to a shop close from home because I called a Ford Dealer service and they ignored me with the problem they wanted $160.00 dlls just for diagnosis, they told me that was no recalls on the 2009 ford focus, (Ford has a very poor customer service), they only want your money!!!!

The mechanic (at small shop) noticed the problem in just few minutes and told me that both rear wheel bearing were bad, the worst was the passenger side but it was necessary to replace both; after $339.53 dlls t (original parts from Ford were used to fix it) the problem was solved.

I'm very upset with Ford and stupid warranty on their cars, 3 years or 36,000 miles.

Next time I will buy a car with 10 years and 100,000 miles warranty it will be an import, I'll support other country economy.

I just put my third set of tires on my car after being told by several places that the tires I paid over $100 each for were too cheap. I kept hearing a whiring sound in back end. Even the dealership said same thing. None of the ttires I took off had any wear and tear on them as matter of fact they had full treads still. Got $130 a piece this time and still had same sound. Finally took it back to dealer and he said sounds like a wheel bearing gone out. Its been making this sound since the first set of tires had 10,000 miles on them. I spent well over $1000 on tires and I always had them rotated when had oil changed. I bought both sets of new tires at reputable tire dealer and he even gave me a credit on first set as a trade in since there was no wear and tear on them. I know why I didnt know what the problem was but I spent about 3 months going from shop to shop trying to find out why I had this sound. I know when I bought the car brand new in 2009 it was very quiet inside, than the sound started and 30000 miles later somebody finally did not tell me (oh its your tires). Going to pick it up today $500 later and if I hear that sound again, I am going to do like the old lady throwing the tire through the window of the discount tire commercials, but I am just gonna somehow throw the whole car in.

In November 2010 I noticed that my car front passenger wheel was making a slight whining nose when I drove it on the freeway over 45 miles per hour. In December 2010 the noise increased so that I would have to turn the radio up real loud to drown out the noise. I was told I needed to have my tires replaced due to the tires feathering. I replaced all 4 tires in December 2010. In Jan 2011 I moved to Orange County from Northern California. I was driving my car from Orange County to Northern California Monterrey Bay area about 3 times back and forth, the noise got worse. I took it to Firestone Complete Auto Care in La Habara, CA in March 2011 and found out that I needed to have the passenger side wheel bearing replaced. It cost me 357.00 to replace the wheel baring, I was surprised the guys that changed my tires did not see that the wheel baring needed to be replaced. Now my car is running quite and smooth.
