problem #1

Focus SEL 4L

The Left Rear Door Ajar alert remains on, although the door is clearly closed. Since this switch operates the perimeter alarm, the alarm keeps going off. After spraying with WD40, this worked for a while, but no longer works. It appears to be weather dependent. The dome lights remain on and this is obviously a battery drain. I can hear the perimeter alarm going off all the time - even though no one is near the car and it is not windy.

I have looked into this problem and it appears to be well known to Ford as SO MANY other Ford owners have reported the same thing. This is so annoying. I mean $750 to fix a door switch? On a door that is barely used? I could see spending this for a Cadillac, but this is a Focus. I am convinced Ford did this on purpose to milk customers. From what I can tell, to access this, you have to take off the door panel and this is a pricey task. This definitely should be a recall, since it has happened to MANY - if not all - Ford owners.

My mom worked for Ford Heavy Duty Truck engineering until retirement. I have always had a Ford, but this is it. If Ford won't fix this, I'll NEVER buy another Ford. I know they don't care, but I have had every car and truck that they make.

Again, the faulty switch should be a recall & Ford should pay to fix this. The car owner should not have to take their door apart to fix a switch. Shame on you Ford Motor Company.
