I keep the door closed with zip ties but the car still notifies me that the door is ajar every time I take a right turn. This is the second door to fail. Kudos to ford for manufacturing a car with a 50% failure rate in regards to doors that close. I live in Texas and this has happened in the summer both times. It is precisely the problem described in the recall but for some reason Ford didn't include my car in the recall.

I currently own a 2012 ford focus. Since March 2016, I have had to listen to my car constantly beep at me because my driver side door will not stay shut. Two weeks ago, the 3rd door went out. So that i can "safely" get to work, i have bungie chords and rope tied throughout the inside of my car. (Don't worry, i still have the beeping noise to remind me my doors won't close.) Ford motor company has advised me that there will be a recall notice sent out the week of September 5th. My options currently are to pay $700 per door ($2,100) and POSSIBLY get reimbursement, OR continue driving my 2012 ford deathtrap as is. Is this how Ford treats and values their customers? Being that i was laid off from my company due to outsourcing, it was very important to me to buy and support an American brand. Due to the fact that this is a Ford issue, and not customer wear and tear, I asked ford to provide me a rental car until my car is able to be fixed. I was told to take to local dealership for a "temporary fix", but dealership had no clue how to handle situation and said i would have to pay out of pocket. After contacting ford motor company again, i was then notified my car will not be recalled at all, since they are recalling 2013-2015 focus' only. Since ford was "sincerely" apologetic towards the issues I've been having, they offered me this pretty sweet deal to trade in my death trap for a newer one with their friends and family discount. Because my doors are useless, i owe about $7,000 more than the value of my car. Needless to say, I'm still driving the 2012 focus.
