So pretty much, after investing over $20,000 into a car I bought a year old between payments and repairs I'm screwed. I posted to sell my car for $5,400 and no one wants to buy it because of it's current issue I have yet to fix. The entire fuel system is screwed up and a local mom and pop owned and ran mechanic shop estimated a $2,000 quote for getting this fixed. A collapsed gas tank, really?? WTF! That's pretty much the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, and on a 5 year old car!?

I had the purge valve replaced for $280 and that did not fix the problem. My next step is to replace the fuel pump and fuel filter and pray for the best. I'm out of work right now and cannot afford the $320/month car payment, much less a $2,000 repair. I tried selling the P.O.S. for $130 more than what I owe on the loan or just getting the fuel filter and fuel pump and praying that fixes the problem.

What my car is doing is stalling out and engine shutting off after just a few miles of driving. This is one of 5 major issues that cost over $1,500 in repairs and that's just my particular experience. Ford, you make decent trucks, and have made decent cars a few decades ago... either step your game up or get out of the vehicle manufacturing business. I'll never buy another Ford

I TOOK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH WHICH IS WIDELY KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I LET THEM KNOW THERE WAS ALSO ISSUES WITH THE GAS GAUGE, FUEL SYSTEM IN GENERAL BECAUSE IT WOULD STALL OUT. THEY SAID THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES.I HAD TAKEN IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO DEAL WITH THE KNOW TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND NOW THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY TELL ME THE FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP CANISTERS(I AM ASSUMING THIS IS THE CATS) TO THE TUNE OF $2000. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A FUEL TANK COLLAPSING. THIS VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. IF A COLLAPSING FUEL TANK IS NOT A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, I'M NOT SURE WHAT IS. THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS VEHICLE AND I DON'T FEEL SHE IS SAFE DRIVING IT. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL COVERED BY FORD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. I HAVE A 1948 FORD 8N TRACTOR AND THE GAS TANK HASN'T COLLAPSED ON IT.

The fuel gauge became inaccurate and was often stuck in full.

The digital display was inaccurate for fuel in tank and fuel to empty.

Had to use trip odometer to estimate when to fill up with gas.

Ran out of gas when digital readout indicated 40 miles and 38 miles left on the tank. Fuel gauge indicator was just above the empty line.

Ran out of fuel while on business trip. Thank God for AAA. Ford knows it has a problem with this as well as the transmission which is another issue but proceeds to do nothing but tell their techs to immediately replace the purge solenoid, tank and pump which is not a cheap fix. Throws a code for a O2 sensor which I am sure was replaced before Ford finally put out a T.S.B bulletin telling techs this is not the issue. I was told there are 3 vehicles at the dealership in repair with the same issue right now. How can Ford, of which my dad was a dedicated Ford man, turn their back on this issue without helping the customer. Running out of fuel on a busy highway leaves an opportunity for a major accident. I am filing a formal complaint and if there is a class action lawsuit out there, someone please inform me.

2013 Ford Focus. Nothing but problems with this car from the get go. The check engine light came on and the gas gauge stopped working. Took the car into the dealership and was told the gas tank collapsed. I called Ford to complain, they told me that there was no recall on the gas tank and if the car wasn't under warranty, there was nothing that they could do. I was told to save my receipt for the repair in case there was a recall and that I may or may not get a partial refund if it was ever recalled. They were aware of the complaints and problems with the gas tank and they didn't care.

So 2100.00 and 6 days later, I got my car back. I am totally disgusted with the performance of this vehicle and wish that I had never purchased it. And this is only 1 of the problems that I have had with this car.

After filling my car with gas it started funny. Almost sounded like it was little flooded. Then, after a few days of driving at least 75 miles my gas gauge didn't move. I took to a dealership and was told it was fine. After driving 200 miles and gauge showed full tank I took it to another dealership. I was then told my gas tank had collapsed and it was not covered, even though they were very aware of the problem. I don't remember it stalling anymore than it always does. I only had 30,000 miles and thankfully had an extended warranty. Cost approx $1,000.
