Focus ST 2.0L T

  • Manual transmission
  • 80,823 miles

THIRD fuel pump replaced. Techs traced issue to Fuel control computer, which I was told had LITERALLY MELTED. Currently last fuel pump replacement. Car still stutters/misfires at times, which was a symptom of an oncoming fuel pump failure. Car computer did not log engine misfires unless tech laptop was plugged in to actually see current drop off. Spark plugs and coils replaced previously as well, had no major effect. Up next, the failing audio system!

Focus ES 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I've had multiple problems with this car and its sickening. First, around 50,000 miles, I had to have the WHOLE transmission replaced. Then, around 75,000, the transmission started acting up again. The car was driving so bad that I figured it was the transmission again. Brought it to the Ford dealership where they replaced/repaired the transmission. Thankfully, Ford extended the warranty on this problem (how nice of them, roll eyes). I picked it back up and thought it was driving a bit better. Then, the next day it was back to driving like sh*t. Brought it back into the dealership, and surprise...I now need a new gas tank, fuel line etc. Of course, Ford has not extended the warranty on this problem even though apparently the Focus is notorious for this issue.

My Ford Dealership just informed me it would be $3k to get this repaired. I have a base model 2013 Ford Focus with just about 80,000. 3k is half the price of the car! Really disappointed and frustrated with Ford's lack of making durable, long lasting cars anymore. Don't buy this car. I'm kicking myself that I didn't do more research before buying this car when it had only 13,000 miles.

Focus SE 19hp

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 miles

All vehicles break down, no surprise there. Having a vehicle with less than 16,000 miles break, that hurts. Coming home from work on a Friday and having the low pressure fuel pump go out...

Don't get me wrong, it is covered by the warranty. I simply wanted other individuals to be aware that if your car looses power, take it to the shop and have them check both fuel pumps, because that was my problem.

Of course, my car broke on a Friday evening, which means that it wasn't fixed until Tuesday. Quick service, one day to order parts, one day to install it. No complaints.
