Focus SE 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,500 miles

I bought the 2014 Focus in August 2013 in Virginia and shortly thereafter I moved to Chicago. The other morning I was going to work and it was very very cold, in the negative temps. I was turning left and moved the lever down to initiate the turn signal but at the same time my high beams were on so I pulled back on the lever at the same time and the bloody damn thing broke off and is now hanging there. I called Ford to make an appointment to have it fixed and to have my first service done on the car. After the technician, who may or may not be certified to tell how the lever broke told me that it would cost a few hundred dollars to fix. I immeidately said "ah it's a brand new car with 3500 miles on it, shouldn't the warranty cover that"? Well obviously enough it does not according to Ford. I called the customer service office and they told me the same thing. I also paid for a maintenance contract for the first 75000 miles when I bought the car and apparently that doesn't cover me for anything either. Still working with Ford to iron this out. I don't think I should have to pay for this repair, what does everyone else think??
