I purchased this car new and within a week it began shuddering, studdering, jerking during acceleration. For a while I thought it was just me getting used to the car and pressing the gas pedal oddly. Over the years the problem has became worse and approximately 12-15 months ago I took it in to be checked out. I had to contact the dealership and complain about the way my car was driving numerous times before they allowed me to bring it in. I cannot remember if there was a recall on the transmission or if the "repair" was covered under warranty. Either way, the dealership tried everything they could to avoid me- so much that I passed the maximum miles covered in the manufacturer warranty before I was allowed to bring it in but they did still honor it, considering my complaint was well before the threshold was surpassed. When I picked my car up I was told a new electronic component was installed in(?) the transmission that would record and adapt to my driving style, allowing a much smoother transition between gear shifts, solving the shuddering. Whatever they did worked for about a week, just long enough to ensure the manufacturer warranty expired. Now it is worse than ever- sever shuddering and jerking between gears, taking longer than it should to shift gears, even slipping gears sometimes, occasional uninitiated engine revving and bogging down, hesitating to accelerate- both at a stop and while in motion, rolling backwards on an incline while in drive. I'm afraid to pull out onto a road if there's any traffic coming, afraid to cross at a median, merge into traffic from an off ramp. I've known from the beginning that something isn't right with this car, and reading through the class-action lawsuit against Ford for this same model car years 2012-2016, I believe Ford knows, too.

I bought my 2017 Ford Focus SE with 8 miles on it when it got about 5,000 miles on it my transmission began to shutter. Brought it to 3 different Ford dealerships to be told nothing wrong with it. About 20,000 miles I notice the shutter becoming worst and worst to be told once again nothing wrong with it. Now my car is at 50,000 and anytime it's under the half way mark with gas the shutter become more intense. Still Ford wants to tell me there is no problems

The engine stalls and shuts off every time I turn on the car every time I put gas now, even if it was not empty it starts to shake and then turns off as if it doesn't recognize it was just fueled. The check engine light also came on and I was told at pep boys there is a problem with the gas valve. Also, the gas meter is wrong, I could be at 25 miles to empty and drive for less than a mile and the counter goes down at least 3 miles less, there was a time the car said I had 8 miles to empty and it literally stopped in the middle of the street almost causing an accident and it would not turn back on until generous passerby's helped me push the car to the nearest gas station about 5 blocks away

Recall 19S22 needs to be extended for 2017 Ford Focus with a build date extended from April 2017 to at least October 2017. Mine is experiencing the exact symptoms of this recall and is not included. This is for the fuel tank deformation recall for a stuck canister purge valve. Car stalls after refueling with codes P0456 and P1450

While backing up out of parking spot the car stalled. Additionally at times when backing up the car, it reports low gas or incorrect gas amount. This aligns with a known recall of 18S32 from the same date range and manufacturing plant as my car but my VIN is not listed in this recall.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while making a left turn, the vehicle stalled. The contact tried to restart the vehicle and it stalled again. The vehicle was pushed off to the side of the street. The vehicle was put in neutral and pushed to the contact's home closely. The contact called the manufacturer and they arranged a tow to the dealer (uptown Ford Lincoln 2111 N mayfair rd, milwaukee, wi 53226 (414) 771-9000) but they refused to do the repair that had to do with NHTSA campaign number: 19V515000 (fuel system, gasoline) because the vehicle had a minor crash six months earlier. The dealer stated that the crash was the contact's fault and the reason the computer software malfunctioned. The manufacturer called back to deny the contact's claim. The manufacturer researched the issue and had the vehicle towed to another dealer who stated same as the first dealer that the vehicle was not covered under the recall. The upper management of the second dealer denied to do the recall repair because the manufacturer would not cover the repairs. The manufacturer finally sent an email denying the contact's claim. The failure mileage was 47,000.

When accelerating, typically from a stopped position but not exclusively, the transmission shudders. This started happening at about 20K miles and I'm told by the Ford dealership "some shuddering is to be expected & cannot be repaired". I disagree. This is not to be expected as no other vehicle I've owned did this unless there was a mechanical problem.

The car has had multiple fuel malfunctions. The first one was the purge valve which I replaced. Now the car is throwing a code for a fuel rail low pressure and stalls out in the middle of driving even when I'm on the interstate. This is very dangerous and I've noticed Ford has the recall listed on other models of the same year but not mine.

User had a quarter of a tank of gas before heading home. Shortly after, user started the car and it stalled. User did not think much of it. User shut it down and turned key to the "on" position and the check engine light turned on. The car turned over and worked. Shortly after, user was driving car down the road towards his house and the engine stalled. Systems and electronics screen were on, but everything else glitched and nothing really worked, the car torque steered the user into oncoming traffic lane. User had to use E-brake to properly slow down and pull to the shoulder of the road and turn key all the way off into the "off" position. User waited 5 minutes to ensure all systems were shut down, and started car back up again to safely drive the rest of the way home. User has extended warranty and will immediately have dealership look at vehicle.

While driving to work as I pulled out of my neighborhood my rpms began began do rapidly bounce between 0-6 and the gas pedal didn't respond to anything like the engine was not receiving enough fuel. I stopped the car, in the middle of the road, put in park and the engine returned to a normal idle. I began to continue driving to turn around come back home worried about this issue. About a half mile later the engine completely stalled on me in the middle of the road. The car would crank with no start. This is a huge safety concern. I had to have my car towed to the local Ford dealership at beach Ford in Virginia beach, va. After their testing I was told that the fuel pump driver module (fpdm) needs replaced and that the part is backordered with an estimated delivery date 2 weeks out. The car only has 23,500 miles on it. There's no recall at this time for Ford Focus stalling issue while driving which is a huge safety concern for a vehicle to stall while traveling down a road/highway. That fact disgusts me because it is a known and reoccurring problem and nothing has came of it. I also find it interesting that people with the same issues here were recommended to replace different parts. I'm curious to see if this fpdm will solve the problem of stalling in the middle of the road.

II took my car in to the dealership when I received my recall on my vehicle. I was then told by the service manager that they could not fix it due to the fact that the recall part has not start to go out yet.so now the car recall problem is causing problems now. So I took it back to dealership and was told they was not going fix it because the recall had expired now. Mind you this is my only transportation and I am a single mother with a precious 5yr. Help help help please and thank you!!!!!! I was at the gas station getting gas and the car cut off. And the recall has something to do with the fuel tank deformation. I spoke to the service manager, his manager and the GM manager at Ford. They told it was nothing they could do. And I to fix it my self.

2-9-2020 received NHTSA tracking# 11308051 I have not heard back on the matter, Ford recall 18S32 car was "only re-programmed" 12/2018 parts were not available at that time, Ford never sent a letter stating parts were available the faulty purge valve was not replaced causing the car still to continue having issues 11/21/19 received email stating "if your vehicle was previously included in a recall for which you have received the remedy for but you are experiencing a failure with your vehicle that relates to the previous recall, you may file a complaint regarding your failure and referencing the recall. If you are interested in filing a complaint you may call our hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and a customer service representative will be happy to assist you" Ford has acknowledged they can not do anything "since the car shows it was repaired under the VIN#" (re-program only)the stuck purge valve and plastic gas tank which now has been deformed due to the stuck purge valve is the only and proper way to fix Ford defective engineering issue. Ford needs to step up and repair the car properly under warranty, not walk away with a so called fix by re-programming the car. My car has a hard time shift automatically and makes a grinding noise and vibrates when shifting gears. It also falls out of park a lot when on an incline and starts to roll backward. I nearly hit a car behind me because of this and the incline wasn't steep. I found out that the 2016 models had the same issue because of the dsp6 transmission. I also have issues with the evap canister now which is causing my car fuel emission issues and performance.
