Fusion LS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Died on us twice. Once while on a camping trip 1 mile away from the campground turnoff. Luckily we were high in the mountains and only 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear broke, so we could coast/seize our way home in 1st and 5th gear. Had it completely replaced. Second time it died in the 6 Flags Magic Mountain parking lot, ruining our second vacation in a row. This time it would start, but as soon as you put it into drive it would choke out. No luck. Had to tow it to our home mechanic in AZ where, luckily, the transmission was still under warranty from the first time it died.

Fusion SE 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,000 miles

Quoted $7,500 plus labor. In other words, totaled. That's unreal, I've owned the car since new and never abused.

Fusion SE

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

There is no reason that this transmission should have needed rebuilt at 104000 miles (due to an internal leak from worn bores warping aluminum). We had both of our FORD vehicles in the shop. Both of them have less than 105000 miles on them. These will be our last FORDs. :(
