Fusion SEL 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 119,000 miles

Started when I came back from a short trip and knew it was due for an oil change. Heard clinking in the engine so I stopped and checked the oil. Way below the OK section and hardly showed. NO low oil light ever came on! I am very regular about changing the oil on the car.

Added 3 quarts and thought I would let it run through the system then take it in for the change. Next morning checked it again just to be sure and I had no oil again. No spots on the drive either. went and added 4 quarts oil to the car and then took it in. No oil again and had to have the gasket replaced. then drove it a little bit and had the vapor canister recall fixed and a few days later I got a check engine light again.

Drove straight to the mechanic and he said it was the P0022 code – timing chain issue. Had to open the engine to see the timing system and the Phaser had broken off and the teeth on the cams had too. Timing belt is stretched. Had the car towed to the dealer hoping they might cover it since I see a bunch of this same thing happening on other Fords but no. $4500.00 to do the full repair. Even they don't think it is worth it for me to do the repair.

The car is a 2010 and has 45 TSB's out on it. Liked the car, but not worth fixing. should have gotten the extended warranty.
