Started having an issue with the rear brakes making excessive noise. I took a look at the pads to discover they had completely disintegrated at 28000 miles, eating into the rotors. I use this vehicle almost exclusively for highway driving, and I usually go pretty easy on it. The dealer claimed that they've seen an issue with brake biasing on similar vehicles, and that its totally normal to need replacement at this mileage, which of course is complete bullshit. They refused to cover it under the warranty as brakes are wear items, despite the fact that rear brakes shouldn't be wearing out 5x faster than the front.

It's pretty obvious Ford is aware of their mistake because when the dealer replaced the pads/rotors they gave me documentation on the lifetime guarantee of the new rear pads, which apparently is honored at any ford dealer nationwide. My only guess is they used super soft pads to stop idiots from complaining about squeaks and coupled with bad manufacturing controls, it was a recipe for eating up the rear pads. What good is a warranty if it isn't honored against defects in craftsmanship.

I noticed my rotors were wearing uneven across the surface and thought I needed new pads which I bought. When attempting to change the brakes I removed the caliper and checked the pads. The pads were only half worn but they were grooving the rotors to the point of where they may need to be remachined. The front brakes are wearing perfectly smooth across the surface. I haven't contacted the dealer yet but will this week since this is not an isolated issue.

This 2014 Ford Fusion, the rear brake pads are grooving the rotors. When I talked to Ford Motor Company they told me to talk to the Ford Dealership about the matter. I have been to two Ford dealerships and they claimed there was nothing they could do. One dealerships garage pulled the pads on one side and the pads had big chunks of metal in the pads, cutting grooves in the rotors. When I contacted my parts store I asked them what kind of pads were suppose to be on the car? They said the car was suppose to come from the factory with ceramic pads. Do you think they were rolling them off the assembly line so fast they run out of ceramic pads and put the first thing they could find on them.I have owned several Ford's but with the dissatisfaction with Ford's Customer Relationship Center and the Ford dealership center's I will never buy another FORD!
