My transmission shift linkage is broken and keeps detaching from the transmission shift lever. According to the recall that is already out there for this issue, 2014-2016 Ford fusions are covered. My vehicle was manufactured in 2016 but is a 2017 model year. As such its using the affected parts but not part of the recall. The cost to repair it is well outside what I can afford.

On July 21, 2022 I was driving my 2017 Ford Fusion I was driving on route 95 when my car started to over rev and began shaking, then I lost complete engine power. I nearly getting ran off the road from the cars behind me. Thank goodness I was in the right-hand lane when this incident happened. I had my 2017 Ford Fusion towed to Purvis Ford service center in Fredericksburg Virginia. The tech called me letting me know that my torque converter has failed and needs to be fixed. The cost was going to be $6,250 plus $200 diagnosis fee. I was made aware of the recall on the Fusions torque converter failure. I was told my Vin number isn't a part of the recall. I believe my car needs to be a part of this recall everything stated in the recall description my vehicle had done. What do I need to do to continue to get my vin number on this national recall.

I was driving my 2017 Ford Fusion it lost power to the engine. The car just revs when you hit the gas, the transmission failed. I was nearly ran off the road on route 95 back in July 2022, thank goodness I made it to the shoulder. I had my car towed to Ford service center and was made aware of the recall on the torque converter, also was informed that my vehicle isn-€™t a part of the recall. I find it very odd that my car has been doing everything that the recall is explaining.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when attempting to shift gear there was a warning light and a message stating that shifter failure and -€œShift Assist Fault, See Manual-€. The contact depressed the brake pedal while moving the gear shifter for the gear shifter to function properly. The failure reoccurred intermittently and had since increased in frequency. The contact stated that several attempts were needed for the gear shifter to properly register the desired gear. The contact stated that the vehicle occasionally shifted into reverse independently. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who confirmed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V413000 (Power Train), 19V362000 (Power Train), 18V471000 (Power Train) and 18V169000 (Power Train) related to the shifter cable bushing. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recalls. The shifter cable bushing and cap was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 85,400.

The bushing that attaches transmission shift cables disappeared. The car flashed "shift sys fault" and kept turning on the emergency brake and disabled the engine from starting. After googling the warning, I found an article about the recall from ford and what the problem was. After finding a picture of the problem I was able to verify that the bushing was gone and cable was detached. Once the cable was reattched, the car functioned correctly. Unfortunately my car was not part of the 2022 recall for this malfunctioning part

The Shifter Cable Bushing disintegrated on my 2017 Ford Fusion, causing it to not shift into drive while parking my car. This did not result in damage or an accident, but the car was stuck in gear, and I could not move the car. I was told there is no recall for my car on this, but there is on others. I had to get it repaired at my own cost. The issue could cause more problems with similar cars like mine. A warning on my dash told me there was a problem with the shifter mechanism and that the car wasn't in gear. If the car had been in neutral at the time of the problem, it could have rolled away, with me thinking that the car was in park.

On 12/08/2022, my 2017 Ford Fusion started as normal in a busy parking lot, but once I idled/moved just a little, it became locked as if the emergency brake was on (it was not) and would not shift out of park, regardless of trying to put in neutral, reverse, etc. (It would show N or R on the dash, but remained deadlocked in Park.) There was this error message: "SHIFT SYS FAULT Service Required." It took several people to push the car to a safe area out of the way of traffic. Had to have the car towed at owner's expense to the closest Ford dealership. There were not other messages or signs of the problem prior to this failure on 12/08/2022. Ford dealer on 12/10/2022 removed and replaced transmission shifter cable bushing and installed cap. Ford dealer agreed that most certainly, this 2017 Ford Fusion has the EXACT same recall #22s43 that other 2017 Fusions have had. However, when Ford dealer entered this vehicle VIN, nothing showed up in OASIS. So I had to pay for this repair out of pocket. Like others have stated, the Ford recall #22s43 is too narrow in scope. So why in the world am I having to pay 100% of the cost to fix the EXACT SAME bushing/cap issue (recall 22s43) that others are having with the EXACT SAME YEAR, MAKE, & MODEL"!?! Just because my VIN wasn't included in Ford's original recall" DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! If it's the same issue as the other vehicles are having (of the same year, make, model) why am I paying for the error and they aren't?

The problem is in the gear shifting. The problem is the same problem many others are having on 2017, but are not included in the recall. The recall is Fords number for this recall is 18S08. Several hundreds have filed a complaint but Ford will not expand the recall to include the 2017. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed by Ford and NHTSA. The current recall effected 650,000 cars but not the 2017 Ford Fusion.

When putting my car in park, I received a warning "SHIFT SYS FAULT" Confirm Park Brake Apply Before Exiting the Vehicle. My parking brake was never on. When I got back in my vehicle, my gear shift would not let me take put my vehicle into gear. I googled and found it was the gear shift bushing and there was a recall on this part. I was able to take my vehicle to the repair shop and told them there was a recall. They informed me the recall was not for my vehicle because the recall was for automatic transmissions on 2016 and before. How can this exact same part be a recall on an automatic vehicle, but not on an electronic "dial" gear shift?

The transmission failed AGAIN... the Original transmission failed at 75,106 miles and Ford would not replace it even though it was in the batch flagged as having a Transmission issue (assembled in Mexico with my VIN in the range). I filed a report like this for that one as well. I ended up having to pay $4,700 out of pocket the first time. This next time, the replacement transmission failed at 99,108 miles but this time was covered by the replacement transmission warranty (3yr unlimited mileage)

A bushing attaching the shift cable to the transmission is plastic and failed preventing the shifter from moving into Drive or Reverse. This is a known Ford recall for the "shifter cable bushing" on almost 3 million Ford Fusions, but dealership stated that my Ford Fusion does not fall into the recall. Dealer charged $588.99 to repair a known Ford defective part that cost $3.68.
