Takata recall: Ref. NHTSA id #: 10945038 submitted on January 13th. During July 2016, I received a recall notice from Ford Motor Company about the passenger side air bag inflator needing replaced. The letter stated that a ruptured inflator may cause serious injury or death. I have read the risks of both keeping the status quo and the risks involved with deactivating the inflator. Since the replacement part and repair notice has not been received by Ford to date, I want to deactivate the passenger side inflator until a replacement part is installed. Today, March 24th, 2017, I called the NHTSA customer service number to learn the process to have a dealership deactivate the switch. I was directed to the NHTSA website and entered "deactivate air bag" in the search box. I located appendix C and took the completed form to my nearest Ford dealership. At the end of my phone call, I asked if takata will assume the labor cost for this effort or whether I will be expected to pay. The NHTSA customer service rep told me that I would not bear that cost. I drove my car to sam pack five star Ford in plano, tx and the service tech told me that they do not do that and wondered where I got the form since it lacked a gov't letterhead and looked like something I generated myself. After more insistence on my part, the service tech went to his supervisor. The response was that 1) they never did this before 2) I would have to get further authorization from Ford customer service 3) they do not have the labels to put on/in the car and would have to order them; assuming there is a part # for them, and 4) I would be charged $135 for their labor to deactivated since it is not part of the remove and replacement of the inflator. Ford made a copy of my completed form and stated that they would pursue direction through their channels.

I took my 2009 Mustang to the columbus, Ohio dealership where I purchased the car for the driver's side airbag recall which evidently they fixed. The next day my airbag light went on which it has never done before. I took it back to the dealership. I was told now that the passenger side airbag was inoperable and it would cost $750 to repair and now neither airbag was working. I did some research online and found out about the passenger side airbag was under recall as well. I called the dealership back and the service person had no idea about that recall code 17S01. I even gave him the code number. Now the dealership refuses to repair supposedly because the part of the airbag that is broken is not covered on this recall.

"takata recall" I was driving my 2009 Ford Mustang on a neighborhood street 30 mph, when I turned a corner (10 mph) I attempted to honk my horn and the passenger airbag deployed, my car accelerated with a hard right straight into a dumpster damaging the drivers side of the vehicle, the drivers side airbag did not deploy. I had purchased the car 6 months before this accident and the horn had not worked, we did not know there was a recall on the airbag at this time. This accident could have killed someone because the car became uncontrollable, the impact was so forceful it bent the frame of the car the damage to the vehicle is estimated at $7000.

Takata recall; I received a letter from Ford Motor Company in July of 2016 that informed me of a safety recall (16S26 / NHTSA recall 16V-384) that affects my vehicle and further states that should there be an airbag deployment, a ruptured inflator may cause serious injury or death. I have not yet been contacted for the replacement inflator and I have visited my local dealership on two occasions to status the recall. I was interested in having the passenger side inflator deactivated until the repair was accomplished but the dealership representative stated they were not authorized to deactivate. Therefore, I need your authorization to allow Ford to deactivate the passenger side inflator immediately and until the recall has been satisfied.

Takata recall - part replacement for this used car is still outstanding. (is Ford creating the replacement inflator as has been informally reported?) VIN number was not found in NHTSA listing, which concerns me greatly, so will I still be informed when replacement part(s) available since this has now been reported?! the car is a convertible(cv) if that makes any difference. Would like to have part replaced immediately as three people, including two children, are transported in car every day, and the inflator issue is very concerning. The delay in replacement is unacceptable in my view. Parts should be replaced asap!! please treat replacement with real urgency and let the author have frequent updates via mail or E-mail.

Computer system check indicated SRS light on code 22. This code is for a faulty side airbag module/harness. The side air bag is built into the driver seat. There was a service bulletin tsb 09-8-7 regarding the wire harness that is stretching the wire to the air bag module. This safety issue should be added to the recall list. The tsb file is 7mb therefore here is the link to the tsb 09-8-7 kerrymitchell.net/Mustang/documents/tsb/tsb09-08-07.pdf, please copy and paste on browser to open the file. Please investigate. Thank you.

Takata recall my 2009 Mustang recently had a repaired driver side airbag. From the takata court docs it looks like a passenger front airbag is coming. My car is due for a state inspection but wont pass because of an airbag dash light. After research I found a Ford tsb 10-23-8 that shows this year vehicle has driver and passenger side air bag issues also and a symptom is the dash warning light and cde 23. I cant drive my car since its rejected but id like more research into this tsb to see if a recall is waranted. Dealer wants to charge $600 to replace each side. $1200 total. I feel this is a public safety issue and should be remedied by Ford. Help...

Takata recall- I have a 2009 Ford Mustang roush 429R that is being affected by the takata recall on both airbags. I have received a note that the driver side airbag will be fixed, but was told the passenger is not ready. I have been trying to sale my car for a year, due to husband being laid off and financial hardship. I am unable to sale my car due to this recall and when I discussed with Ford, the dealership told me that my car will never have the recall fixed, that its an impossible fix. They told me that my car is worthless and if they bought it, they could pay me for my roush parts and then total out the car. What right as an owner do I have, that I have paid for a $40 thousand dollar car, I only have 8600 miles on it, and besides the recall estimated value is around $35,000 to $40,000 due to it being #78 of 100 made, but am being told sorry because of this recall your car is worthless and there is nothing that can be done. What right as an owner do I have" if my car is not safe enough to sale, how is it safe enough to drive" how does a 1 income family have a car just sit in the drive way costing money, not able to drive due to safety, and cant sale related to recall. This has become such a huge financial burden, causing increase stress related to not being able to pay other bills. I have already contacted the dealership and management there and all I get is, "we are so sorry, but we cant help you"

I received a notice from Ford Motor Company in July 2015 indicating there is a safety recall of my vehicle due to the front driver side air bag inflator housing possibly rupturing and sending metal fragments striking the driver and other occupants resulting serious injury. The letter said I would be notified when the parts to repair my vehicle are available. To date, I not been notified to schedule a repair. It has been 9 months now and parts still are not available? I am not understanding why. This is a known safety hazard.

Takata airbag. I am trying to understand why it has taken over year between the notification from Ford and the estimated time of repair. Ford has indicated our car will be repaired sometime in the July timeframe. Why have other car manufacturers seemed to have moved much quicker in obtaining parts and are further along with repairs?
