Ranger XLT 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,000 miles

I bought this truck used from the local dealer. First mistake. The second was taking it there for repairs. I had this sound coming from the engine almost as soon as I bought it. It sounded lke a knocking but I knew this engine can't knock. I mentioned it to the dealer who explained it as simply the vehicle being used and all used vehicles make noises. They also tried to explain that the cruise control broke as soon as I left the lot. Needless to say this dealer will not get any more of my business. What a pathetic buch of losers. I took it to another dealer who told me about the tensioner problems. Not being under any kind of warranty I guess it's a cost I'll have to eat. It'll be about $900. Too bad.

I'm happy with just about everything else about the truck. Looks like from other similar complaints that I'll get about 20,000 miles before it needs to be done again. At least I have a date to aim for for selling it.
