Taurus GL

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

My wife with the kid were all the way up in upper michigan alone. We live in the Green Bay area and she lost the head in Michigan!

Cracked and over heating on the side of the road. At 52k miles ... unreal! Very expensive as well as down time on my vehicle. (not to mention my family being unsafe in a low mile vehicle.)

Taurus

  • Automatic transmission
  • 137,000 miles

I am sooo tired of this car! First, the axle breaks, so I fix it, then the brakes, so I fix 'em, then the alternator, so I fixed it, then the dang thing starts to overheat. So then, I get a new thermostat, (was hoping),a new water pump, then a new reservoir, then the serpentine belt breaks, which I replace event though I am still trying to figure out what is causing the overheating, then I go back to the overheating situation...fluid is leaking from the cap, so I buy a new cap, only to find 5, count them 5 used caps in the trunk, (this car was my fathers right before he passed away and I didn't much pay attention to anything he was doing with the car). Then lo and behold, I think, there is nothing else that can cause this overheating, so off I go to a town, 20 minutes away. 30 minutes later, my car was practically on fire and the head was cracked. What a piece of junk!

Taurus V6

The car has 62,000 Miles on it and should not have any major problems. From what the mechanic said there is a small leak in the block which in order to get to this you need to remove the transmission. Because of this small leak there are leaks in the head gasket as well. Estimate cost to fix is over $1800. Ridiculous! I owned a Windstar and swore I would never own another Ford. This one was given to us by an elderly relative who took meticulous care of the vehicle. Oil changed every 3K. I will never own another Ford as long as I live. I only got 80,000 miles out of my Windstar and it had so many electrical problems it was in the shop over 15 times. I own 3 Toyota's and just love them all. I hate not buying American but what choice do we have.

Taurus GL

  • 150,000 miles

The service light kept coming on so we hooked it up to a computer and it indicated a tranny problem. I didn't think anything was wrong with the tranny and neither did other people who checked it out. About a month after the light being on constantly, i blew a head gasket and ended up having to get a whole new engine. I hear this is a very common thing on this year and make.

it would not be so dam bad if it had only happened once, but as my luck would have it I have had to repalce the heads three different times because we could not figure out why the heads kept cracking
