In 2006, I had a flat rear-driver's side tire. I took it to be repaired at discount tire, in plainfield il. The mechanic promptly told me, after he had affixed the repaired tire, that I had two broken rear springs. He then told me to contact Ford, as the Taurus had been having problems with that particular problem. I was not in an accident or had any other problem with the car that would cause that to happen. I phoned Ford in plano, il. Then following day, and was told that my particular vehicle was not covered by Ford for that problem. I think that this is a problem that Ford should fix, as I have done nothing to cause it!

After today I have replaced all the coil springs my 2002 Ford Taurus, which I purchased brand new. The first coil spring to go was a rear coil spring, fortunately when it decided to go I was driving on my street. It grazed the rear tire causing a giant rip. The car was still under warranty when this occurred. The second coil (front drivers side) went in March of 2007, it basically blew out my tire, on a busy street. It cause nearly $1500 worth of damage today my car went to a local Ford dealership for service (unrelated to the coil springs) and I was told I need to replace two coil springs to the tune of over $700. I understand that there have been several complaints of this occurring on the 2002 Ford Taurus.

In February, 2008, had both rear springs fixed on my 2002 Ford Taurus. Was told by the garage that this was a common problem for Ford but the 2002 was not included in the recall. Just today, June 15, 2008, was driving at about 55 mph with my family home from church when it sounded like we ran over a log - my husband checked and the drivers side front spring is busted.

Coil springs broke on my 2002 Ford Taurus. When I called the tow truck company, he stated it was about the sixth Taurus he had towed that month with the same, exact problem. When we got to the auto mechanic, he said he fixes these all the time on Taurus' and he's very surprised they will not cover it on a recall. I was just researching this on the internet & found hundreds of complaints of the very same issue on 2002 Ford Taurus'.

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus. On the evening of Jan. 22, 2008 my wife was leaving work when she heard a loud thump, the front of the vehicle fell downward. She was unable to steer, move forward or reverse. Having to move the vehicle, we had it towed to a near by auto repair station where it was than inspected. Needing the vehicle asap, the technician called that night to inform us that the drivers front coil spring broke in half and that it was wedge into the wheel. After further inspection he found that the pass front coil spring was also cracked. Needing the vehicle, I had them do the repairs which included coil springs, struts, damaged sway bar links, and bearings for a total $ $810.84. When I picked the vehicle up I was told by the tech that the rear springs are also cracked and should be replaced asap. I was told by the local dealer that there was a recall on this matter but only on the 2001. Why not the 2002 and what corrections were made? it doesn't seem right that the exact same issue still occurs on the 2002 vehicle. I did contact Ford customer service for help paying for these repairs, but was told they could not help me. Thank god my wife was not driving on the highway when the spring broke and wedged in the wheel.

2002 Ford Taurus coils broke and punctured the tire and consumer would like reimbursement for repairs. The year before the problem with the coils, the dealer replaced the front stabilizer limb and strut connection. The consumer was informed by the manufacturer that there was no recall on his make and year, therefore, there was no defect.

The contact stated the hub bearings on the right wheel in the front were bad, had to replace them three times. On 8-22-05 a garage told the contact the wheel was getting ready to fall off. They had not taken it back to the dealer. She heard a noise like a rubbing, grinding sound and the noise got worse. The noise occurred at speeds of 10 mph and above. Also the engine light was coming on, and they had to replace the feedback sensor to the engine. The vehicle would stall while being driven. The dealer replaced the fuel tank and pump. The vehicle could not be started. The dealer replaced the battery. Two ball joints, one inner tie rod and left side axle shaft were replaced.
