The contact owns a 2004 Ford Taurus. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact removed his foot from the accelerator pedal and noticed that the vehicle erroneously accelerated. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the cruise control cable would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 88,700. Updated 8/24/12 updated 09/11/12.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Taurus. The contact was driving 50 mph when the acceleration pedal was released in an attempt to reduce speed. The vehicle suddenly accelerated abnormally. The brake was applied with extreme force in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, they located the failure at the cruise control cable and the throttle body. The vehicle was repaired on May 11, 2012. The contact would pump in order to dislodge the pedal. The dealer diagnosed that the cruise control cable separated, which interfered with the throttle body. The dealer replaced the cruise control cable. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 59,900 and the current mileage was 80,000. Updated 04/19/2012
